Forever, Mitchell - Episode 20

I smile and nod at what seems to be the thousandth person tonight. 

Xavier hadn't been joking, he had meant what he said about us going out. 

The funny thing is that I woke up today to meet my cell phone by my head, I don't even want to think about how that made me feel. 

He listened to me and what I said, although I was being a jerk. 

"You did well to dress appropriately today" He says when we finally get a moment and I turn to him. 

"What?" 

"You dress nicely" He says and my head spins, did I receive a compliment from Xavier Knox? Is this for real? 

"Do not move from my side for a bit do you hear me?" 

And boom, he had to do that? Why can't the man stick to one emotion? Acting hot then cold, just when you think you can hold a civil conversation with him he goes and spoil it. 

I don't say a word, just peruse the heavy diamond ring he had produced today, to keep up appearances that is what he had called it. 

That doesn't mean my stupid heart didn't thump, I mean I'm a girl and I love shinies.

I look around the room and I see almost all the attention are on us, some of the women are smiling at me while others look like they might want to take my place. 

Be careful what you wish for. 

I wish I could tell them this. 

Xavier sweeps his hand across my waist and pulls me in, kissing my head and intertwining our fingers. 

I startle, my eyes flying up to his, I see his attention somewhere ahead and I look to see Wallace standing across the room, glaring at us. 

Obviously that was for the crowd, nothing for me to panic about. 

I beckon on a waiter and he steps forward with a champagne tray, I go to grab one but Xavier's hand stops me. 

"Get her water instead" He says to the waiter who moves away. 

"I'm Twenty four you know, I'm old enough to drink alcohol" 

"You are with me, I don't want you doing anything stupid" 

Well, f*ck you sir. 

I don't say that out loud, I'm not in the mood to die.. 

What? So I can't get a bit of alcohol after he goes and does something sweet like holding hands with me? Stupid idiot. 

He turns to a man and a woman who approach us. I get a smile from the man but the lady looks like she might be suffering from constipation. 

When Xavier and her husband strike up a conversation she turns to me. 

"You are the new wife" She says and I smile sweetly at her

"I am the new wife" She seems a little taken aback by my flippant tune so I just bless her with another excellent smile. 

"I'm Denice" 

"Okay Densie, I'm Mitchell, nice to meet you" I say, purposefully getting her name wrong. 

I know how the mind of this people work, she came here to come test me, see if I'm good enough to be in their circle, see if I can be easily manipulated. 

Well sorry Dellion, I'm Mitchell, who are you? 

"I never said my name was Densie" She says anger plain on her face. 

"Ohh? I'm sorry Delilah, I'm not too good with names" 

"Denice, my name is Denice" 

"Demi? Demon?" I ask, acting all concerned. 

She looks red in the face and it's a thing of joy to me, Xavier should have let me get that champagne, then maybe I wouldn't be so b*tchy. 

"Behave" A voice hisses in my ear and it's Xavier, sh*t, he must have heard me picking on Debi over here. 

I smile sweetly at him. 

"Honey! Stop we are in public" I say loud enough for Dede to here. 

Xavier looks confused for a moment before giving me a look that tells me to behave, I smile and he gives me another look that says I do not want to do what ever it seems I'm doing. 

"Baby, can we go home now? I want to have you all to my self" I say, well take that sir, that's for denying me alcohol and making me stand for more than 2 hours on heels without said alcohol. 

"Darling...." He begins with a drawl and I freeze, I've never heard Xavier sounding this normal.

. You had me all day and all through last night, aren't you a little tired?" Diesel's husband clears his throat and gives us a smile. 

My face flames bright red at his innuendo and I can see Deshi looking at us with envy. 

Sorry Dellion, this isn't what it seems. 

Xavier pulls me in by my waist and begins to draw circles on the skin left exposed by my top and I swallow, sh*t. 

I carefully pull away from him and he let's me, I walk away from him and towards the rest rooms, I do my business and I get hijacked on my way out by Delhi. 

(Ohh, I think I like Delhi better) 

"You got my name wrong in purpose didn't you?" 

I feign ignorance 

"I'm sorry Deliee, I'm not good with names, I told you" I say and I get so much joy from watching her turn red in anger. 

I walk past her and I turn the corner, I get dragged into an hallway, a hand closing around my mouth. 

"Do not move" A feminine voice says immediately and I sigh in relief. 

I know I have guards on me, it's the main reason I didn't panic. 

"Let go of Xavier Knox's woman" None other than Lucy says and the person holding me do. 

"Wallace wants you to know that he is always going to be watching you, he will get you soon" My captor says before moving away, disappearing from sight. 

"Are you okay?" Lucy asks. 

"How are you here right now? "

" I'm your housekeeper /personal bodyguard, are you sure you are okay? Let's get you home "She says and I follow her meekly. 

She leads me to the limo. 

" What about my husband? "I ask weakly. 

" He says to let you know he will meet you at home "She says and I nod, the Limo starts moving and before I know it drift. 

The funny thing is that I thought about how protected I would have felt if Xavier was there.

And also I lost all my story drafts, I'm literally crying, all my books? Gone! 

And also saw some comments asking when the romance between Tyler /Mitchell /Xavier is going to start. 

Soon, I promise. 

I don't want to rush anything and that's why I'm building momentum, I'm going to try not to disappoint so please bear with me.
