Black Widow - Episode 5

Shelby lay on the couch holding her phone. She just got rid of all his pictures on her phone. All the stupid pictures that have been holding her down all this time. She had been so stupid. She could have gone out with Joe, or with Pierre, that cute French boy who got her a Prada on her last birthday or even Anthony. They were all into her, but no, her childhood love was all she cared about and now, her childhood love has a new girlfriend and worse, he seemed not to even like her anymore. Stupid...stupider, stupidest.

The door to her left opened, it was her father’s study room and several men came out of there. She frowned. She could count seven and they were all suited up, all looked older, just like her father. They have been in that room for up to four hours. She couldn’t remember the last time they had guests, let alone nine to ten of them-yea she counted them as they walked out of the living room, barely noticing her and all were quiet.

So creepy! She thought! Must they all wear black suits, and what was that “W” sign tagged to their chest? She shook her head and watched as the last one of them walked out  of the room followed by her dad.

“Hi baby.”

She was surprised her father could see her, that means the rest of them must have seen her too, they just chose to ignore her, well, it was better like that. She wasn’t going to have a nightmare afterall.  She realized her father was wearing a blue suit and there was no ‘W’.

“Dad, who were those creepy men and why do they all have ‘W’?”

Her father smiled and came closer to her side, kissing her on the forehead

. “Nothing to worry about, just business associates. So you got back from your friend so early? Is everything okay?”

She was at first quiet. Nana had always been her confidante and for some reason she sometimes got scared of her father. But since she got back, he had been really nice to her.

“Well, I didn’t want to ruin the fun he was having with his girlfriend.” She replied, hoping her father would tell her the details.

He sat down beside her. “Oh...yea, they work together actually and she has been a good asset to our company. Is there a problem?”

Okay, so not only did Fabian like her, even her father thinks  she is a good asset. Who is she anyways?

She sighed. She could feel a surge of jealousy coming up somewhere deep down within her.

“So, is she like his assistant or...”

“No, they are partners. But Fabian is more like my right hand man, he calls the shots.”

She raised a brow. “Oh..ok. Partners.” She scoffed. “ No wonder they were able to get along so fast. They get to share everything.” She said quietly to herself.

“So, do you think you can work with her or is it going to be a problem?”

She was surprised at this question. “Work with her, dad, I don’t understand.”

“I mean, you know I’ve been thinking of bringing you in to the family business and being my daughter, you get a higher....”

“Okay, so I get to be her boss?” She asked excitedly.

“Well...” Her father started with a smile, pulling her closer.

. “Once you prove to be quite capable, you get to be her boss.”

That made her smile. She never liked her anyways and she could tell they were not going to be friends either, but it will be easier for her to throw her around when she is the boss...but , the boss of what exactly?

“Dad, you know I never know your job and if I don’t understand it, how can I be capable of making things work?”

Her father smiled. “Don’t worry, once Fabian is back, he will tell you everything.”

“But, Dad, you can tell me, can’t you?”

“No, he is in charge of everything that has to do with  hiring. Now, I have to go excuse myself, I have some calls to make.”

Shelby watched as her father kissed her on the cheek and then left for his office. She took a deep breath. This whole job thing was getting her excited. She was going to do everything to make sure that lady doesn’t make things comfortable for her....she would make her father proud and make Fabian sweat...it was going to be the perfect job and she couldn’t wait to hear all about it.  putting down her phone, she spotted a tag card on the settee, inform of a ‘W.’ As she stared at it, she could see the tiny ‘black’ that was written at the bottom of the third stroke out of the three that forms the ‘W.’  It was her father’s, it must have dropped from his pocket. Out of curiosity, she bent forward to pick it up. Turning it to the back, she realized there was a barcode...if she could get the necessary application, she could scan it and find out what this whole thing means, she would have to do this on time before her father would discover it was missing.

SORRY GUYS, WORKING OM MANY THINGS AT T HE SAME TIME, REALLY STRESSED OUT.
