Crime To Love - Episode 5

In the twinkling of an eye Cyril was already prepared to go. He then went to the standing mirror to know how he looked and marked himself a very tremendous good. Cyril, coming down from the staircase, went straight to the garage, entered the car and put the dead engine alive zooming off to meet with Chike at Brick City Eating café where they would assemble and move down to his father’s compound for the birthday party.

Cyril was the last person to arrive there among all their friends. After some minutes of pre-merriment birthday celebration each of them entered his different cars and ignited the engine, directing the steering to Chike’s compound.

Cyril had been hearing, stories of Jennifer, Chike’s younger sister, but he never knew that the girl was beautiful like an escaped Angel from the heavenly kingdom, Cyril pondering in his heart. Truly, Cyril came for a birthday party but he has left the party and gone for some other thing else. He was sitting under the canopy that was provided for them, a lot of things that he cannot figure out were running through his mind, till when Arinze one of their friends called back his attention unknowingly by asking him the name of Chike’s younger sister. Cyril, realizing himself, answered casually “I don’t know”

. His eyes were fixed steadily on obviously nothing. One would think that he was feasting his eyes on the DJ and some of his dancers entertaining the people but in reality he was lost in thought, of what Chike would do if he really found out that he had seen his sister and fallen in love with her at first sight and thought on whether she would ever accept his proposal, he saw himself as the latest idiot because as much as he tried fading his thoughts away from the emotional journey his heart was on the verge of travelling with the impossible he called it with his best friend’s sister. He murmured to himself, “This beautiful and gorgeous girl will only be good for marriage and not for any kind of mess”. Cyril swore never to meet any other girl in his life for he has seen a person he would marry that was after so many emotional battle he fought sitting under the canopy and made up his mind to follow his mind, but was also ready to face the consequences of anything that comes out of it, for he knows Chike may not take it lightly with him more especially when it has to do with love. His inner self can’t still refuse reminding him “how can you marry your best friend’s sister who knows how many girls you have rendered useless in life” He he strongly fought that inner self gaining confidence to face whatever it may be for he had never seen any girl in his life that tripped him like  Chike’s sister. He concluded that he must find a solution to the problem for every problem has a solution.

Jennifer on her own side saw Cyril and was tripped, she couldn’t withstand the eyes with which Cyril gazed at her and she ran into her room and started blaming herself for being so stupid and cheap that she could be so easy to fall for common sight of Cyril. Jennifer refused to come out of the room till when the party was over and everyone had gone to their different homes.

Cyril starved himself of every edible that were made available in that party since the very moment he sighted Jennifer. He had asked himself many times his problem.

. He will force himself to eat but all proved abortive. He was just sitting on his seat, even when everyone present in the party was busy dancing he didn’t join them. Chike came to him many times and asked him the problem because he looked worried and disturbed. All his friends noticed it even. At the end of the party he gave Chike his birthday gift and entered his red Blue Bird and re-awakened the sleeping engine, zooming off to his abode. On his way home Chike called on him on the phone to know the problem but he refused to pick the call. This made Chike send a text message to him to forgive him if he had done anything wrong to him during the party. Still he didn’t pick the call till he arrived at his house. He arrived home and called Chike telling him how that day birthday party was the first party he has ever enjoyed as an adult, that got Chike speechless and unconvinced yet he could still not ask him further the issue for his strange display during the party. The analysis of the party became the nearest topic on phone which was Cyril’s game plan to distract Chike from his exquisiteness of wanting to find out reason for his cold attitude in the party. The plan was so productive because the topic on ground made Chike involuntarily threw his worries of Cyril’s strange attitude to the trash.
