Dance With Me - Episode 24

“Angelica, whatever kind of conversation you want to have, that is up to you,” he lectures her.  “You were a half an hour late.  Any other job and you would be fired.  I want to work with you but if you keep making choices that are not good for you, help might be throwing water into a bucket with a hole in it.”

“Thanks,” she said.

“Who was that guy?” he asked.

“My ride,” she said.

He looked at her to signal he wanted a better answer.

“I was at the bus stop. Two buses didn’t show.  He asked me if I wanted a ride.  He saw by my costume he knew where I worked. He said hop in and so I did,” she said.

Adams sighed, they were not going anywhere and he knew that she was trying to be stubborn. He didn’t want to make things awkward between them but he knew that they must have this talk. So he sat in his chair and signaled to her to take a seat as well which she did.

“What happened last night?” He asked.

For a while Angy observed him, “What happened? Well, I don’t know, apart from the fact that you left me behind which was really understandable as I am nothing to you apart from your employee, living under your roof and eating your food, I am a bag of liability and I understand you could do to me as you please.”

Adams inhaled a deep breath, he hadn’t expected that.

“You were out. I didn’t see you when I left.” He stated.

“No, you didn’t ask for me, you didn’t wait for me, I would never have gone anywhere but, I get it, we are not even friends so...”

“Stop that!” He ordered, banging on the table

. “I saw you last night with your admirer,” he said, trying not to sound stupid, “I thought you had gone with him and...”

“Why would you think I would have gone with him Adams? What do you take me for?”

“But I came back for you and you were gone!”

“Yes, I had gone because I don’t know how I would have gotten home. I don’t know how I would find my way back to your house. With the way you behaved last night, I thought you didn’t want me at your house anymore so I left with him. I only left because I needed a place to stay!” She stated and continue, “not that I don’t appreciate all you have done for me please, note that I do and you know that I am working my ass off here too but do not treat me as if I am someone else!”

Adams thought he misheard.

“What did you say?”

“You heard me, whatever my action states, confirm it from me, do not judge me by someone else’s mistake, I am not Rita!”

Adams looked at her sharply and leaned back, he was surprised.

“So you know about Rita.”

“Yes I do, I wasn’t supposed to but I do. I got to know that Rita had once been the star of this place and I know that she is into modeling now. I also know that she left you and betrayed you even while you gave her many chances, but I am not her. We are two different people and I know that someone has been talking to you on how I am not to be trusted but please,  you are not making it easy for me.

Adams sighed and smiled. He reached for her hand. “I guess I have wronged you and for that I am sorry. I have been listening to others and I let them confuse me but not anymore. You are right, you and Rita are two different people and I am sorry if I have been seeing her too much in you. I assure that it will stop and I really hope we can be ...friends?” 

Angy frowned and shrugged. "Cool"

“So, are you and the guy a couple or what?” He asked dryly.“No, we are nothing, I returned his gifts and I hope not to hear from him again. One more thing...” She said.

“What?”

“I've been sucking up to Marcy because of you all this time...but now, I aint doing that no more. If you dont;t trust me after everything, then I can as well quit."

Adams smiled. "Give me a chance to make things right Angy, I promise, she wouldn't stress you anymore."

Angy sighed. 'I guess we are cool..."

“So, does that mean you are coming back to stay with me? I missed you..your food actually.”

She chuckled, “I will come if you are not tired of me," she replied and they both laughed.

They both got silent for a while and were just looking at each other.

Adams had totally forgotten he was holding her hand until a knock sounded and he let go of it.

"Everyone is waiting Boss..." Omega said, looking at both of them suspiciously.

"Okay, let's go," Adams said before the three left.
