If Adetoye wasn't the one witnessing Esu, a god speak to him. He would not have believed it from another person's mouth. But what could make a god approach a human? This questions raced through Adetoye's mind. This he did not understand but if he could be contacted by a god, it had to be important. "But gods have nothing to do with mundanes?" Esu gave Adetoye a long hard stare. He knew men like this. They were cunning. "I suggest you hold your tongue. We both want something here you, the throne and me the death of someone." Adetoye knew the rewards of helping a god. He never thought it would be him. "Who do you want dead?" He inquired. "Yeye.", Esu said. Esu was about to poof off when Adetoye stopped him. He had a greedy look as he spoke, "My gift, I want a wish." Esu had been with mortals for a long time. They could be very deadly. He was smart to make a counter offer. "How about a prophesy?" Knowing how vain Adetoye was, he knew he would listen. "What prophesy?" Adetoye asked cautiously. "Of how you will be king" Those words made something explode in Adetoye. So he would succeed? He could do anything for Esu now. Esu knew it was time to play games. "Or don't you want that?" Adetoye was too deep in his fantasied world to hear

. All he could mumble was a yes. Mortals, Esu thought, so easy to decieve. He would make him live in his Utopia as long as he needed to. That done, he faded to blackness.

Aremu was furious. A stupid soldier had failed to defeat Desuda. He was at his feet feeding him a cock and bull story of how the people were BEASTS. This was humiliating for him but he decided to spare the loser. If he was kept alive, he could still die at warfront. "So when are we going to attack ayetoro?" The failure asked definitely to lessen the tension. Aremu felt a smirk coming on. He knew what he was doing. The legion would soon be transistioned, then he would attack. He wanted a battle and he wanted a real one. "I'm getting them ready for our arrival." A shout erupted from his people. They were ready for battle. He was born for it. However, there was a tiny problem. The words chikwe muttered before his death haunted Aremu's mind. They had someone like Ala, he had to investigate. He planned to send spies to Ayetoro to learn more about the boy and maybe his heritage. "You", he referred to the disappointment in front of him."I have job for you." The boy bowed his head in salute and spoke in a sombre tone, "Whatever you want Lord." "Good, you will go to Ayetoro and learn of a boy they call Remi. Understood!?" "Yes sir!" The boy took his leave while Aremu spoke aside, "And don't disappoint." Somehow this did not seem like a threat to the boy. It was just the truth. After sending the boy on a spy mission, Aremu felt alone despite the multitude that surrounded him. He took his leave to be alone. Aremu approached the gushing river. The river led to Ayetoro and even exceeded the kingdom. He could remember how he and Ala always visited the river to talk idly. If not for his brother's jealousy, Ala would have been alive. This returned his desire for revenge in tenfolds. This wasn't Justice for him, he thought. This was for his dead wife and his children that he never got to meet, alive. The image of the fire, the castle in ruins kept replaying vividly in his mind eye. The pain was so excruciating that he lunged at the innocent waters as if blaming it for his predicament but as the saying goes, water has no enemies. The water continued to flow to it's destination without hindrance. The water made a hissing sound as it went. It annoyed Aremu, everything did. Aremu remained in the water enjoying as it washed past him. Some things in this life. The water reminded him of Ala and he could never stay mad at her. The river was where he first met her and the last time he met her.

Adeola had ran as far as her legs could carry her. She could still see the devilish shadow following. Adetoye betrayed her, he had sent one of his dogs after her. Her legs shook from exhaustion but she dared not stop to rejevunate. The figure kept getting closer and this sent Adeola haywire. She picked up her pace. She was heading to nowhere. After a long marathon race, Adeola stopped running to catch her breath. This however was her undoing. A cold metal kissed her sweat soaked skin and she held still. It was Ebube holding a dagger to her throat. "You whore." He thundered. His bad breath added to Adeola's predicament. "Prepare to die." He finished. Adeola was tired of everything. The politics, the betrayal. She closed her eyes and waited for the last strike. She heard a slash. She opened her eyes to see a tree like house before her and Ebube blue as the dead. There was a woman before her. She reeked of moisture and miss and and Adeola remembered the fairytales her mother told her. This was Aje, the renowned witch. The woman's eyes seemed to peer through the very soul of Adeola. She could feel panic. Adeola begged for the witch's mercy even though she doubted she had a conscience. The woman was silent for a long time then she burst into a laugh. It was very hollow like bats screeching in a cave. "I'm not an animal."she said before helping Adeola to her feets. Adeola restole a look at Ebube, he looked petrified as stone. "Is he alive?" she was forced to ask. The woman turned to her and began to walk to her home, the tree house. "Not for long. And I suggest you join me in my home. Jawlers feed here at night. Death in the hands of a dark witch is better than being eaten by a jawler, Adeola weighed before following the woman to a fate unknown. Adeola studied the witch's home. Appearances could indeed be decieving. The inside was larger than the outside. It looked like somewhere a human lived until she saw skulls. It reminded her she was in a witch house and this sent tremors down her spine. The woman seemed to be brewing a condition that stunk of blood. Even while sitting uncomfortably in a chair, Adeola noticed the woman stealing her looks. She was starting to rethink being eaten by jawlers. "You fear, young one...why?" Aje asked as she served herself a soup that looked like blood and brain matter. "You want some?" she offered. Adeola was frankly hungry but even beggers wouldn't accept the food. She nodded her head in response. After an awkward pause, Adeola asked the witch the question that had enveloped her thoughts. "Aje, wwhyy diid you save me?" She forced out. She felt like she was being ungrateful but she had to know. Aje sighed and began her speech, "There are different types of people alive. You, you are the recipe of darkness. The perfect candidate." What does that mean? Adeola inquired further. "It means you have the gift of a potential witch and a powerful one." Power they say corrupts. Too much power, it destroys. Adeola's mind reeled at the possibility of being a witch. Most of it was overwhelmed by the burning desire for revenge against her foe, Adetoye. Perhaps she should become a witch, she thought.

Remi found himself in the forest. He remembered going to bed with Ajoke. What was going on? He searched his environment. He must have walked here. His powers revealed no trace of anyone. Then it clicked. He was in a dream. Except in this dream, there was no one. He looked around but all he saw was green plants and soil. "Is anyone here?" He screamed to the heavens. This was pathetic. He had never had a dream that did not have a meaning. He turned to check around. Right in front of him was the boy that saved them from the Desuda beasts. Remi had time to study his features. He had curly brown hair. His body was chiseled and he looked like a perfect sculpture. "What are doing here?" The boy inquired. Remi pondered over the boy's dumb question. He was having a dream. That, could not be stopped. The boy stared at him for a second then spoke, "This is not a dream. You are in my mind." Remi, if situations we're different would have tagged the boy as crazy but indeed this was a very odd "dream". "Why am I in your mind?" "I don't know." Suddenly there was a loud screech and Remi began to feel himself being dragged out. Remi opened his eyes and studied his environment. He was back in the tent. Ajoke was sleeping lightly beside him. Remi sat up and wore a loose tunic. He had to and get some air. The early sun rose and sent a warm orange glow around the earth. Remi sat at the edge of a cliff as strong gust kept him cool sending a good fuzzy feeling. His new dream was like a new experience for him. He wanted to know more about the boy.

Esu watched the pest called Remi through his crystalclear mirror. The boy was getting close day by day to finding out more about his family. Esu knew he had to wreck havoc before then. Aja, the goddess of nature was still angry at the people of Desuda for putting the barrier jewels before her. He could use her. AJA'S ABODE Esu saw his sister tending to plants. He always saw her gifts as strange at least when in a good mood. It was like she served the mundanes despite being a celestial but when angry, Aja was lethal and he wanted that. Aja looked up and noticed her brother's presence. "What do you want?" She asked neglecting curtsey. "Don't be like that Aja. Can't I visit you anymore?" The look on Aja's face betrayed him. She was in no mood for games. He knew we had to strike the hammer just right. "It's Desuda." The mere mention of the kingdom made Aja's blood boil. "What about it?"she asked, sstopping what she had been doing.

. "Remember these people betrayed you?Why don't you make their curse em let say permanent." Aja remembered how they neglected her pantheon. They saw the jewels as their new protectors. To increase their sufferings, That she could do. Her hand glowed luminent red as she waved her hands towards Desuda. Esu hadn't thought it would be this easy. He knew even though Aja was angry with Desuda she loved Desuda. Aja turned to him,"It is done." Esu left her abode fufulled. Remi might have the blood of a god but he was not immortal. If Desuda didn't kill him it would scar him. Ajoke was his major target. (do you think Adeola will become a witch? what is Esu's goal in destroying Remi? who else missed Aremu?)
