Forever, Mitchell - Episode 29

Well this is awkward.

That's the only thought going through my mind right about now. 

When I said I wanted to have breakfast I never expected the table to be occupied by Tyler, Bryant, Valli and none other than Xavier. 

Do they hate me that much? dont they know that their combination will be too much guilt for me to bear? 

I think I'm gonna have indigestion. 

I reach for the coffee pot but Xavier is there handing it to me. 

The other 3 Knox's simultaneously turn  their head to watch him pour me coffee. 

Oh, hell. 

What the hell does he think he is doing? And in the presence of his siblings no less, does he think rubbing our new relationship in their faces is the way to go? 

It will be an act of God if they didn't hear us the last 3 days, no need to confirm what they already know. 

Sheesh man. 

He turns his head to me when I refuse to take a sip. 

"You don't like it? Want me to tell the kitchen to bring you some juice" Valli begins to choke and I glare at him as I pat her back. 

He smirks and it's then that I know what he's doing, he's messing with me, waiting for me to blow up. 

My husband has a playful side, who knew? 

"Are we going to talk about it?" Bryant asks quietly and my face flood's with blood.

"Bryant..." 

"I'm not talking about your relationship with Xavier grams, I'm talking about something else" He says, his eyes on Xavier. 

Xavier's brow twitch and that's the only show of annoyance he portrays. 

"Bryant will be going to military school" Valli gasps and immediately tears flood her eyes. 

My fork slips from my hand and I turn to Xavier 

"Why?" Tyler wants to know too because he pulls away from the table. 

"He was at the harbour a week ago, doing drugs" 

"I told you I wasn't doing drugs" 

"Please, convince me other wise, Bryant you went out of line" 

Xavier says. 

"Xav.. I was just at the wrong place at the wrong time" 

"You were out by 2 in the morning, that man was your dealer" 

"He isn't my dealer, he is my teammates dealer, he came to me for money my friend refused to pay" 

"What are you guys talking about?" I find it wise to ask at this juncture. 

"I got stabbed Bry" Xavier says, his voice surprisingly low. 

"I made a mistake, I need another chance, just one" 

"Can anyone explain what the matter is?" Tyler asks softly. 

"Mother wouldn't want you sending me to military school" Bryant says softly and everyone freezes, even Valli stops her tear, all eyes go to Xavier. 

"Mother wouldn't have wanted you to be dealing drugs by 2 in the morning either" Xavier says just as quietly. 

It's then that I realize that through everything no one says anything about their mother. 

"I don't want to go to military school Xave, please, just give me this one chance?" 

Xavier just stands up and exits the room, he looks like he's in a fit of rage. 

I turn to Bryant. 

"Bry?" 

"I'm fine grams" 

"You wanna talk about it?" 

"No" 

"You sure?" 

"Please Mitchell, just drop it, I don't wanna talk about it, I don't wanna talk about how.

You made me Fall For you, I don't wanna talk about anything" He says rising from the table, Tyler follows him. 

I sigh before turning to Valli. 

"What do you say Valli? Emergency spa day?" I ask and she nods, looking exasperated too.

I've been waiting up for Xavier to show up, it's been hell thinking about what I'm going to say, I have to plead on Bryant's behalf. 

The thought of Bryant makes me pause, not once through the whole time we were friends did I ever think he liked me, but to find out now that he's in or was in love with me? 

It's mind blowing. 

I feel guilty, really guilty, just another Knox that has been hurt because of me. 

The door opens and Xavier stalks in, yes, stalk. 

He doesn't spare me a glance and I know even though we slept together that nothing has changed between us. 

He goes around doing his stuff and I sit down primly, waiting for his attention, God, when did this happen? 

When did I stoop so low? Oh, I think it was after the third time I cried my pleasure into his mouth. 

I shake my head to dispel any lingering thoughts, this isn't something I should be thinking about now, I have to think of Bryant first. 

He lies on the bed and immediately rolls into me, pulling me, his hands go to the hem of my nightgown and it's off. 

"Xavier..." 

"Shush" 

"Can we talk?" 

"After..." 

"But I want to talk now" 

"Let's do that after I'm done with you, yeah Mitchell?" 

"Xave...." That's the only word I get out before his lips begin to trail from my neck to my chest. 

OK, maybe we can talk about it when we get done. 

*****

"Mitchell? You wanted to talk?" Xavier says much later, much much more later. 

"It's about Bryant.." 

"I'm not going to change my mind Mitchell" He says matter of factly. 

"I know that Ghostie, I'm just asking you to listen to him and his explanation, that's all" I say before cuddling into him, our naked bodies touching. 

He's silent for a while, not saying a word, just his fingers drawing lazy circles on my hip.

I close my eyes and he gets the gist, he turns around and I cuddle into his back. 

"Mitchll?" I don't say a word, I'm at that place between sleepyness and wakefulness so I don't say a word. 

"I'm going to give Bryant one more chance, just one, it's more than I've ever given anyone, you have to understand I'm doing this for you" He says and my heart, my stupid heart melts. 

I kiss his back and he turns around. 

We didn't get any sleep till the early hours of the morning.
