If I Die Tomorrow - Episode 10

Amanda’s visit to Ken’s family house was a surprise to everyone; the mother who has passed through the life stage of Amanda’s present age can read meaning into her august visit. Kenneth’s dad had no attached imagination to his soon daughter in-law to be visit to Nsukka without his son; he only welcomed her to the home like a daughter.

Kenneth’s mum ear has been itching to hear all Amanda has for her; she couldn’t wait for the dawn to come when only she with her could be alone ironing out the issueshe had with her son. She found her way into Kenneth’s room were Amanda was sited alone going through her phone. Amanda was so surprised to see her “mum what happened, I thought you were busy in your room?” she asked

   “I am a woman and I know too well that your coming to Nsukka is to see and discuss something that is bothering you, my daughter what is?

Amanda could not hold the tears back as it starts raining down her chin, words could not express her feelings. Ken’s mum consoled her and wiped her tears, she understood the fact that she could not say anything to her presently so after few minutes of consoling her left the room to return when she becomes ready to share her problems with her. 

It is one hour in the earliest morning of the new day but Amanda could not sleep, the motherly words of encouragement by Kenneth’s mother hours to the middle of the night stole away the unstoppable force of sleep from her eyes. She can’t stop wondering why the woman truly love her to that extent, the picture paints of mother in-laws to her ears earlier by the society before her meeting with the woman has proved the painters wrong

. For the woman has given her some beautiful hopes of marriage, marriage has been ruled out by the youths as from been a beautiful experience. Ken’s mum took her time in such an amazing night to paint the heavenly picture of marriage and also the hell side of it, but what counts so fantastic to Amanda was the options that existed in it, all that got stocked in her thoughts was “a better marriage starts from the understanding man”. The whole blames in acceptance poured on her for not been able to understand how desperate Kenneth needed her few days the incident occurred.

Kenneth was already awake lying so weak and tired on the bed, his life has gone to the level of no return, and thinking straight has become an impossible mission in his miserable life. Any sleep that comes close to her eyes gets consumed by his worries. He was still in his usual state of mind when his phone beeped, a message arrived. After for about five minutes he reluctantly picked up his phone and unfolded the message, without delay he jerked up from the bed looking so weak. He did relent so he rushed to the bathroom and hastened up with his bathing, dressing up to move out a knock came at the door. In his eyes was a dead man, he remained silent for some seconds but the knock came again. He walked up to the door ready to face anything, but at opening the door standing before him was her beautiful face Amanda.

. She innocently gave out an infectious smiles, Ken got lost with such smile his emotion fell the victim of the smiles.

Is barely one week that Kenneth and Amanda cared less for each, but like a century they both felt it, the two love bird curdled themselves on the bed without saying anything to each other for minutes “I missed you so much” Kenneth broke the silence. Amanda who can be so emotionally intoxicated whenever on the bed with Kenneth rushed his lips like a hungry lion that just batched into its prey. They both went into a kiss battle, they were still in their emotional mood when Ken’s whatsapp message beeped, then the flash of the message he received earlier that morning. Cutting short Amanda’s emotional life spam when aroused is always heart breaking, Kenneth had no option to do that even when he knew how bad she will feel, but doing it will save their future. Amanda who is no longer a baby knew that the reason for getting distracted in their emotional journey was because of Mirian, she saw the message sender identity. She acted like nothing happened and smiled at her man’s actions when he left the apartment. Amanda then believed that Mirian was never Kenneth’s cousin instead it has for long been a stunt he uses to have his way on her. Her jealousy rose up not until she remembered her mother in-law first law of marriage “Fight the spirit of wanting to know a man’s secret, for no man or even a woman can boast of a beautiful yesterday”.

Kenneth walked down from the taxi that dropped him in front of Mirian’s hotel, he stood still for a while thinking of how to tackle the situation at hand. His additional fear became Amanda’s smiles at his bad act of cutting her short for another woman, that was unlike her he kept murmuring “What have I gotten into” he louded to himself. He then remembered that the message Mirian sent was an audio so he brought out his phone, downloaded the audio and couldn’t believe his ear when on hearing the exchange of words he had with her cousin weeks back. Then he concluded his life the end of the journey, his phone rang the caller was still she “Kenneth am getting so tired of waiting, hope you received my message” Ken ended the call…TO BE CONTINUED
