Jamila - Episode 2

Miss Jamila can you please come and defend your project

I smilled proudly, with my well ironed suit that I am wearing to make sure I am spotless

I walked to the lectern, dropped my paper work and looked around.

"At last" I murmured to myself and smiled

"JJ" a voice called me

"Huh, someone just called me"

"JJ, wake up. You have to prepare dinner"

"Huh"

"Am I dreaming"

I opened my eyes and saw my mom glaring angrily at me

"No doubt, am in hot soup "

She hates eating her dinner late and here I am dreaming

She sighed and stepped out of my room without a word

Thank God, I dread her words when angry

I stretched myself sluggishly

I thought I have finished my projects not knowing its all a dream

My eyes wandered to the clock

"OMG, its 6:30 pm already"

"I can't believe I slept for that long"

I scurry off hurriedly to the kitchen

"I have to finish cooking before my food monger comes back"

I thought to myself before settling down to make dinner

"Yahh Yooo Mehn, who is in the house"

My immediate elder brother "Kingzee" short form of 'Kingsley " shouted immediately he entered the house

That is his normal way of announcing his arrival

He went and pecked Mom and walked straight to the dinning table

I know food is his target.

He likes eating.

I pity his wife cus you must cook always

He hugged me from behind where I was busy setting the table

I turned and hugged him too

"Welcome back Bro"

We disengaged

"I love my brother, he is my closest friend"

"I guess maybe because others left and it remained both of us that we clicked very well"

My two elder brothers are married already

I turned, looked at him and decided to start a conversation

"So how was your day" I asked him dishing out his food

"It was good but I am famished right now. Can we discuss some other time"

I smilled knowingly at him, no discussion whenever he is hungry and tired from the days work

I seem to read everybody around me like a book

I pushed his food over to his side which he pounced on immediately

I dished out my mom's food and called her over

We all sat down and ate our dinner quietly

No side talks, no chit chat

Mom's dinning rule which you must obey while eating

After eating, I cleared the dishes

We said our night  prayers and I went back to my room

I checked the time, it's still 9:35 pm

Enough time to chat

I picked up phone and switched on my data

I clicked on my WhatsApp, many messages came in but I scrolled down to "S" Sylvia, my friend

I sent her a text

"Hey, Babe wots up"

she replied immediately

"Am fine dear and you"

"Am good" this one you replied immediately seems you are bored online.

She sent a laughing emoji.

"You are special joor, so I need to reply immediately"

I laughed

"Me, special"

"Okay dear, thanks"

"How far have you gone in your project work"

"My sister, nothing yetoooo, I don't really know what to do.

" you see, I invited you over to my place for change of environment. Maybe that will help you think but you refused"

I thought for a while

"Maybe I will give it a thought this time. I really need a change of environment"

"Yrpiiiii, when are you coming over"

"Calm down babe, I have to tell mumsy first"

"Whatever, just tell me whenever you are coming. I am available any day anytime"

I replied with a smiling emojie

"I am grateful for your support, I have to go now"

"Wow, that means I have to go too" she teased me

"Lol, if you want to, cus I know you will not leave your boo and go"

"Lol, try me. Am going now, byeeee and sweet dreams"

"Good night love"

I shut down my phone and covered myself with my blanket.

"At least I have someone who worries over my project unlike my brother who is always concern about beating any lecturer who disturbs me"

I smiled at my thoughts

"Being the only girl is fun but sometimes I wish I have another female blood apart from my Mom"

Sylvia understands my passion and supports me while  my Mom still grumbles that I did not go for nursing.

I sighed and snuggled deeper in my blanket

"Enough of the thinking. I need to sleep"

I shut my eyes and began my second missionary journey of sleeping.
