Let It Go - Episode 33
SO, THIS IS A BYE? LET ME NOT JUST SAY ANTHING YET COS RIGHT NOW, I JUST WANT TO CRY! I'LL REALLY... LET ME DISH FIRST EHN.
FINAL EPISODE
KENNIE
“Please say your vows, the man first” the pastor said.
Maddy didn’t want a big wedding, so we chose a beach as the location.
We’re not many at all, just friends and close family. Madison’s uncle made it and so did my parents with few relatives.
“Ken?” The pastor called
“Yeah” I said and cleared my throat. I heard laughter but didn’t turn. My heart is racing really fast.
“I, Kenneth Bryon, take you, Madison Amidah, as my wife, my partner for life. I promise to love you as the Bible commands and to accept you as you are, even as we work on ourselves and on each other. I promise never to long for another except you, never to put any above you, I promise to protect you and your best interests, through the help of God. I am one graced man to have you, really. I give myself to you today and so it shall remain, even as the Lord lives. I make this vow before God and all dear ones present to love you for as long as we both shall live” I said at a go.
There was silence everywhere.
“The woman?” the pastor said
“I, Madison Amidah, take you, Kenneth Bryon, as my husband, my partner till eternity” Maddy said, looking straight into my eyes “I promise to respect you even as the Bible commands and never to spite or frustrate you in any way

. I promise to treat you right and never to place anyone above you. I promise to honour you and to submit to your authority, even as we achieve our goals together. I promise to always bring out the best version of me I can be and to protect your best interests. I love you, Kenneth Bryon and I am always grateful that I have you. I give myself to you today, and so it shall remain, even as the Lord lives. I make this vow before God and all dear ones to respect you for as long as we both shall live”
I heard sniffling and muffled cries.
The pastor took the rings and prayed over them.
“The man first” he signaled to me
I looked into Madison’s eyes as she held out her hand and I slipped the ring into her ring finger. They fit perfectly. Yah, I made the right choice. They kept glowing on her fingers.
I held out my hand and she did the same. Actually, it tingles beautifully.
“So,” the pastor said “in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, I pronounce you husband and wife”
“Amen”everyone chorused.
I grinned, holding Maddy’s hand tightly. She responded with a squeeze.
“Now, you may kiss the bride” the pastor said
Oh, finally! I thought this part would never come, it took tooo long.
I let go of Maddy’s hand and removed the veil with both hands. Oh my, she’s just beautiful.
I bring my right hand to her cheek and brushed my fingers lightly against her skin. She shuddered lightly.
I heard someone whistle but ignored it. I’m sure that’s Paul.
I bring the hand to her chin and leaned a little close
“I love you, wifey” I said quietly
“I love you too, hubby” she replied.
I leaned closer and was about to capture her lips in mine when I suddenly heard a shout, no, a scream.
I’m sure it wasn’t my imagination because Maddy jolted back.
“My water,” Tess shouted “my water just broke”
I gasped. The baby!
Maddy held my hands and squeezed it in excitement.
“Double blessings.” She said. “Let’s go welcome the baby, honey”
Our wedding ended right there and then, or rather, will continue in the hospital as we await the b aby, or babies.
But then, what about my kiss? Oh Tess!
“Yeah yeah” we entered the car and the pastor sat at the front seat.
“I’ve always said this and will still say it” the pastor said “that your family is very weird”
“You haven’t lied sir” I replied
Some time went as I kept stealing glances at Maddy while holding her hands.
“Come here” Maddy said and gave me a kiss on the cheek “that’s to make up for that”
“Hun” I responded “I will manage this very well, my lovely wife”
“I love you dear” she said
“I always have and always will” I replied
“Oh, we’re here already” the pastor said
We got out of the car as soon as Teni’s dad parked the car. People started to cast glances our way because we were all in our best outfits.
We care less. All we care about right now is Tess and the unborn baby or babies.
As I look at Tess managing to smile, Ray holding her hand, Nancy coming out with nurses, Brent helping Ray to carry Tess, Sherifat speaking into the kid’s ears to probably calm them, Victoria holding her baby bump frightenedly, Jonathan keeping her from freaking out, Kunle staring at the whole scenario and Maddy now carrying Bev, I realise we have all got the better to come when we let our past, fears and insecurities go.
It has come to stay because in this new journey, I shall not hold baseless things to heart. By God’s grace, we will do just well.
I look at Maddy and smile and she does the same.
I hold her hand in mine as we walk behind the rest.
It’s a long journey but we’ll walk it together, with LOVE.
