The Mystery

" That can not be, Jessica is dead and the dead never comes back to life"
Alice said.

" I can forgive anything you do but playing with my emotion is something i certainly will not tolerate from you."
Williams seems angry.

" I know you won't believe me but it's the truth. She even called my name."
Nessa defended.

" You know what mom? i'm gonna recommend a psychiatrist for her cause clearly, she's gone insane already. I'm out of here."
Williams angryly stormed out of the room.

Liams was looking terribly upset
"what happened? why are you like this? i asked.
he didn't reply, instead, he held my hand and drew me out of the hospital leaving his mom and sister.

Though, he refused telling me what happened inside, i managed to get him to calm down. he drove me back to my parent's house cause jessi drove off with my car.

"Hey! Liams, be good okay?"
I winked at him and he smiles showing those fine sets of white teeth.

"Of course, i will always be here for you. Try not to chase me when i over stay my welcome."
I said in a jocular tone.

"Queenie, it's not possible to chase my life out of my life. I've done that once and i won't do it again."

I felt stiffen hearing him say that. I wanted to say something about it but on a second thought, perhaps, I'm reading too much meaning to things. I tried to smile but it seems my face had forgotten how to.

"Queen"
Williams called back my attention. I looked up but i couldn't tell exactly where this conversation was leading to neither could I tell what I was feeling.

"I hope this comes as no surprise to you but i love you very much. Don't get it twisted, not as a friend but way more than that."

His words left me in total shock. I opened my mouth but nothing seems to be coming out.

"You brought me back to life Queen and living that life without you is totally worthless. I've lost the love of my life once but i won't let it happen again and no matter what it might be, I will give to earn your love."

He held my hand and squeezed it.

"Liams, I....."
I tried to talk but he hushed me.

"Sh.... sh.. you don't have to say anything now. I will wait till you have an answer for me but please, do not reject me."

I was totally speechless. He moved his hands to my face and slowly lowered his head but I turned my face and his lips landed on my cheek and then, he smiled.

"Don't keep me waiting for too long."
He entered his car and drove off.

Wow..... it's been a whole revelation for one day. Immediately I opened the entrance door, the thought of Jessi flashed back to my head and how she ran off. I was headed for the room to know why but then, I met Lucious sitting in the sitting room alone seeing a movie. It's rather strange, the house seems a little quiet.

"Hey dude, where's everyone?"

" Evening sis."

" Yea, where's everyone?"

"Cynthia has gone back to school. Aunt said she will be leaving for Dubai tomorrow so she had to go get her things ready, Coln is out on a date with Bethy. Mom had an emergency at the hospital and it doesn't seem she will be coming back tonight, Des and Gabi went out together and Jessi is upstairs . She came back looking weird."

"Ok thanks."
I went upstairs.
I opened the door and i saw jessi wrapped on the bed like a parcel.

"Good evening sis."

"Evening queen."
She responded like someone who just got hit by a trailer.

"Can we talk?"

"No, I'm not in the mood."

"I don't mean to be rude but you better put yourself in the mood cause I deserve an explanation as to why you ran off on me the way you did. What's with this strange attitude of yours? You were never like this?"

She didn't move nor act like someone was talking to her. I got pissed and pulled the blanket she used to wrap herself.

"What is happening to you Jessica!!"
I yelled at her and she stood up like a lion ready to devour it's prey.

"What do you want?!!"
She screamed at me. Looking closely, I saw tears on her face.

"An explanation. why are you like this?"

"It's none of your business, stay off."

"That's where you are mistaken, it's my business as much as it's yours."

"Oh! really?"
she said sarcastically.

"When I first met you, i didn't know you but I loved you. when I accepted you as my sister, I meant it. I can't watch my big sis hurt like this and I don't know why. It's my business cause you are my family and family look out for each other."

She broke down in tears and I hugged her.

"Jessi, it hurts to see you like this."
she kept crying.

"7years ago, i met this young man whom i fell in love with. He loved me and his family did love me too. A year later, he proposed to me. A day to my wedding, I had an accident which changed my life forever."

The story sounds familiar but I was trying as much as possible not to believe my instincts so I kept listening.

"My fiancee left me to die in the hospital. when I woke up, I woke up in London with a shocking revelation that I was dead in Nigeria."

"wait sis.... don't tell me..."

" yes it's true, I'm Jessica Manyika, the supposed dead fiancee of Williams Richardson."

I was so shocked. How terrible she must feel. It's been 6years now, how come Williams said he suffered if he actually abandoned her to die? I don't really know

what to believe.

" I only agreed to meet him cause I thought I was ready to face him but I clearly wasn't and that's why I ran away but then, I met his sister outside and she fainted on seeing me."

"That explains why Nessa is in the hospital.

. Sis you need to face him cause he thinks something entirely different."

"Thinks something different? of course he doesn't. you are only moved by sympathy for him. For heavens sake, how come he accepted I was dead without seeing my corpse? Is it that easy? how come I called Williams all night before the accident and he never picked up and he just accepted that I was dead? Williams is a doctor and he knows how the system works!!"

I was totally speechless. what can I say, she sounds right. How come she was buried and they never saw her corpse and they all agreed she was dead. This is certainly a mystery.

"I've made up my mind already. I and Des are leaving first thing on monday morning. Perhaps, I will someday face him but not now. Queen promise me that you won't say a word to anyone."

"I promise sis. I will be here to support you when you are ready."

she sobbed till she slept.
