Lydia's heart - Episode 38

Vicky stood in his room as the guards dress him up for the final ritual; the sorcerer informed them that the HEART is near and to the glory of their gods, it fell on their full moon; a sad day to him too as he must marry Stacy

“Come in” he responded to the knock on the door

The guard walks in quietly with his back as the tradition demands before bowing sharply to avoid seeing the Prince face 

“His Highness, your people awaits your presence”

He pats the guards back to acknowledge his message and the guards rushed out as he has rushed in 

When he was ready, one of the guards tapped twice on the door and the maidens stationed at the door starts spraying flowers for him to walk on. He paused and went inside to get the original ring, perhaps he can never get to see Lydia again, and he would use the fake ring in front of everybody but will change it later to avoid embarrassing Stacy.

As he stepped out of the house, Stacy and her royal entourage stepped out too, as they marched to the sacred hut where the marriage and coronation will take place

Stacy smiled happily that she is finally going to take control, counting the number of her friends and people she will use to exercise her power
Half way to the royal procession, Stanley drove in and surprisingly the car stopped by itself. He and Chris exhaled deeply as the car took control of itself immediately they entered the kingdom and took them straight to the compound

The guards rushed to seize them but Vicky stopped them immediately he saw his friend Chris staggering out of the car, he would have rushed over to hug him if not for the nonsense regalia he is wearing and the tradition that he is neither allowed to speak or do anything except demonstrate with hand until the ritual is over.

He smiled broadly on seeing him, likewise Chris; the sorcerer went close to the car and peeped inside, without wasting time he ordered the royal guards to come and carry out the girls

Stacy became restless as she noticed what was going on, she almost fainted when she saw the girls being bundled out of the car; her heart began racing and thumping so hard that it threatened to fall out, her imaginations running wild, “Has Chris finished eating the money and is back to taunt her with the Kids”. 

Okike and Uju kept quiet looking at the sorcerer as he walks round the girls, maybe they thought; only he has the answers of what he is doing.

Stanley and Chris still relieved that the car race ended without them getting hurt, Vicky very curious to know what happened to his princess and the little royal crowd all silent trying not to question the mouth piece of their gods

After his incantations, he leads the way and the guards carrying the girls followed suit, everybody filled behind to start their journey and immediately another force pulled in Lydia’s car in the compound

Everybody turned in amazement as to what is happening in their village and of all days their full moon; the sorcerer smiled and shakes his head as he watches Lydia and her company climbs down from the car. 

Vicky and Lydia exchanged eye contact not believing their selves;

“Welcome young ladies, join us in the procession” the sorcerer shouts breaking their eye contact 

“What” Okike and Uju shouts same time; Stacy nodding secretly praying they never accepts or she will run mad 

“The ritual is just for the royal members only, you already add this two young men and young ladies now this people; are we really proceeding with this procession” Okike adds in defense 

“Yes, I support that; it is strictly for family and they are not family” fury Stacy shouts drawing attention to herself    \

Vicky gave her a cold stare now wishing he is allowed to speak freely; he glanced back at Lydia and smiled broadly, “today is sure his most happiest day, his princess and queen back to him without any scratch, although his princess seems limp but he trust the sorcerer, he can do many wonders” he thought 

“Woman you are not allowed to speak or are you not taught that, one more word from you and you will be disqualified” the sorcerer thundered and that kept Stacy under check

. Blessing filled in the line without much talk because how they got there still remained a mystery to them; Stanley held Chris tight but Chris was far from the environment as his mind gave him so many scenes that might follow if they finds out the connection he had in everything; he shook his head vigorously hoping that his wildest dream of Vicky and Lydia being together and the girls being their children never came to be.

He made sure to avoid having any form of eye contact with Stacy or Lydia throughout the procession

At the sacred hut, immediately the two Lydia’s were kept in front of it, the sorcerer started reciting some incantations as everybody watched with keen interest including Stacy hoping and praying earnestly that nothing turns against her or she will put the royal crown on her head by herself, she must be the queen.

The hovering cloud covering the hut lifted and the sorcerer increased his chant, the two HEARTS on the different arms starts shinning immediately almost blinding everybody as the necklace on Lydia(x) neck broke into tiny pieces making she and Lydia(n) look exactly same without much differentiation 

As the HEARTS merge into one, the hut clicked open and there was a loud happy cheer; the gods never sleep, the sorcerer thundered 

He entered inside the hut and came out with a big rusty box and handed it over to Vicky “your Majesty” he said and bowed

“I know you have many questions to ask and you can ask them……” 

“Yes, I have….” Vicky says cutting him shut but the sorcerer placed his hands over his lips signifying him to keep quiet  

“but not now” he says and faced the weeping Lydia “that Lady there is the mother or your kids the bearer of the HEART and …” he pointed at Stacy “she wanted to toil with the HEART but the gods are too wise; continue with the ceremony as I have a job to do….. Once again CONGRATULATIONS YOUR MAJESTY” he says and bowed smiling 

“Guards bring the girls to my shrine as their duty must be completed before they can wake up” 
He left with the guards but paused abruptly

“follow your heart, my Majesty or the wrath will be upon you” 

Vicky gave his father the royal box and faced Lydia immediately with his one knee bent “Marry me Lydia and make me the happiest King on earth” 

“Nooo” Stacy shouted charging towards Vicky and Lydia “I have the royal ring and as such you must marry me”

Vicky nods his head “you have the fake ring, I have it made when I found out you are snooping around” he brought out the original ring  “this is the real ring and I am proposing to my wife, mother of my children and my queen” 

“I will never allow this, I must get the crown” crazy Stacy shouts charging to the crown, the guards tried to hold her but the sorcerer stopped them “allow her, the gods are not stupid” 
Immediately her hands touched the crown she turned to a complete statue and everybody shouted, Uju started crying as she remembered what she passed through before she became the queen, she never thought it will repeat itself again with an imposter 

“take her the ART HUT, she will be displayed to all villagers to remind them that no evil pays” the sorcerer made his final statement, smiled and left with the guards without backward glance 
Lydia pulled up Vicky from his kneeling position and hugged him “we do have a lot to discuss”

“Yes we do” Vicky replies hugging her tight fighting the tears in his eyes 

Somewhere at the sacred hut where Uju was engraved, it was replaced with LYDIA’S HEART without anyone noticing……..
