Made - Episode 9

On a Friday almost a week after being discharged in a bid to pass time, i decided to take a stroll round the neighbourhood. Mercy would be coming over after work so i had company for the weekend. I used a route that rounded back our apartment through Eden's park and then to a scanty man-made forest nearby.

I walked slowly with my hand inside the front pocket of my blue jumper. I had  earphones hooked on my ear and was listening to the the lyrics of some sad love songs i had on my iPod's playlist. People were all over the park , some chatting the day away while others sleeping it of on the thick green grass that had been highly maintained to give it a thick well manicured carpet like texture. It was aesthetic looking at how much life was going outside my troubled heart.

I sat on one of the park bench. Beside me sat a middle age man constantly looking at his rolex watch. He was in a grey suit that had been thoroughly ironed almost to the extreme. Clearly he was out to make an impression. Across sat a mum struggling to keep her two kids in one place. Must be a house wife . With each attempt to keep the kids in one place it seemed like they were frustrating  her more and more. I like observing people and trying to read  what is going on through their minds

. Trying to figute out who they are from the picture they presented. I stayed in the park for a while, till the crowd started thinning out.

Instead of going back to the house i decided to go through the scanty forest that was adjacent to the park to really waste the hours i had in my hands. Being that there was hardly person on the path i was taking, i sang along the music i was playing through my earphones not caring how out of key my voice was.

Just a few meters into the forest i saw him Kim_i cannot forget his favourite red sweat-shirt. It is hard enough that he broke my heart but just being everywhere i go is a little bit too much for me.

I started retreating slowly then broke into a full run.

Don't look back

I did look back and i could see him increasing his speed. To an onlooker he was just a jogger trying to change his speed but i knew he was trying to catch up with me.

"Splash!!"

I looked at the person i had just bumped into standing there dripping wet. His leg was bleeding obviously cut by the concrete of the waterfall he had fallen into.

"Sorry," i said in haste and started to break into a run but he grabbed my hand.

"What are you doing?_ Can't you see he is catching up with me? " I asked clearly mortified pointing at the direction i was coming from.

"Who?"

I looked back but Kim was nowhere to be seen. I looked around the park but i didnt see him. Where could he have disaappeared to? 

I relaxed and came to my senses on how i had hurt the man standing infront of me.

"Am sorry i didn't mean to bump into you like that"

"Well....its the second time this month but except for the pain, i don't mind." He smiled at me then winced because of the pain that was coming from the leg. Something about his smile is so farmiliar almost like i have seen it before.

"You need to get that cleaned up and stitched _i stay round the corner i can take you to the clinic in my car."

He hesitated.

. "No, its really nothing _ i can manage. "

"Look dude you need stitches and am not letting you go home with a bleeding leg especially if its my fault." I was now screaming at him.

  "You are always a force Daniella."

I looked at him puzzled. How did she know my name?

"I haven't told you my name so how comes you know it?"

Now he is giving me one of those you got to be joking faces and am smiling sheepishly.  Look dude i dont know the first thing about you.

"Seriously you don't remember me?"

I shook my head slowly waiting for him to introduce himself.

"You bumped on me at Zuna's Cafe..i gave one of your cards to  Mercy_the reception and before that i brought you pamphlets in your apartment.  Am David..remember?"

Am feeling like a douche bag now. How could i have forgotten?  Not to make an excuse but alot has happened within this month.

"Yes..David i am sorry i didn't recognise you. All the more reason i should take you to a clinic. Here."

I offerd him help. He was a bit taller than me. Looking at him limping while leaning on my shoulder dripping wet must have been quite a sight to see.

The world is just a small place. To think i had bumped into this guy before and not recognise him on top of the fact that he had brought me pamphlets was crazy and unbelievable.
