The story, "My Tale of Many Colours" is about an imaginary figure, Mr. A., who has gone through diverse sweet and bitter experiences. These experiences have made him unsure of who he is. As a means of trying to discover who he is, he sets out to write about himself and all the experiences he has undergone. These experiences, he refers to as 'colours'. Each colour he talks about signifies a particular experience he has gone through. He isn't sure though, whether his tale is a tragedy or a comedy, he leaves that to the audience to decide. Whether he was able to communicate his colours well enough or not is left to the readers also.
Finally, he leaves it to the readers to determine whether he is a happy man or not.
