Not My Crime - Episode 9

Two Days Later.

Ella and Lucy walked out of the mall carrying shopping bags. It was Lucy's birthday and they wanted to do a little gathering with few friends later that night. They were about to get into Lucy's car when Lucy sighted Michael coming towards their direction. She looked at Ella who was busy with her phone and smiled. Michael got to them and she stopped him.

"Hi. I'mLucy, Ella's best friend.' She introduced, pointing at Ella

"It's my birthday party tonight and I want you to come around." She added

"Lucy, what......." Ella started but was surprised at who she was seeing

"Hi Ella." Michael waved and concentrated on Lucy who was putting in her number on his phone

"Thanks for inviting me and happy birthday." Michael gave her a hug nd left without saying another word.

Lucy got into the car and Ella followed

"What was that? Lucy?" Ella vexed

"What was what?" She replied starting the ignition

"You and Michael. What was that?"

"Oh! He said he likes me and we exchanged numbers."

"You're not serious, are you? You willingly gave your number to that man whore? Do you know the number of girls on his DM? That arrogant man? Jeez, I can't believe you're so cheap Lucy"

"Is it your cheapness? No. It is mine so leave it for me." Lucy said and drove off while Ella continued ranting

FOUR HOURS LATER

The house was filled with excited girls and few guys that lived around the estate

. Ella was clad in a denim bum short and white crop top while kaima was dressed in a denim gown that stopped just below her butt. They were excited as they followed the celebrant to say hello to her friends. Suddenly, the house became filled with cheers and Ella turned to look at what the noise was all about. She was surprised to see Michael who was already taking selfies with the girl. He was also dressed in white nd denim, looking as handsome as whatever god of beauty you want to mention

He found his way to where the three friends were standing and he embraced Lucy, giving her a parcel

"Happy birthday darling. Many more years." He said, ignoring everyone else

"Thanks Mike. Didn't know you'll make it." Lucy appreciated

"I'm here now. What time will this be over?" 

"Twelve. The estate doesn't permit anything after that."

"Okay. This is the plan. My friends are at more dreams right now and we'll be coming later on to pick you and your friends. I wanna celebrate you in a very unique way, hope you don't mind?"

"Nope, I don't. Thanks Mike."

"You're welcome. And your friend? He asked, pointing at kaima

"Oh! Kaima."

"Yes. Nice to meet you kaima. Lucy, she's coming, and the other one too." He concluded, pointing at Ella who was boiling in anger and rage

"Sure. We'll be waiting."

They shared a hug and he left while Ella ran upstairs, trying to hide the tears that were threatening to fall.

FIVE HOURS LATER

The house was almost empty but Ella was nowhere in sight. Kaima and Lucy dismissed the remaining guests and went on a mission to search for their friend.

"But I think Michael was too rude. If not for anything, they work together so he should have at least said hi." Kaima complained as they climbed the stair leading to the terrace

"Yes. But I think he did it for a reason." 

"Even at that. Anyways, I can't wait to hit the club with those fine people. I'll go live on Instagram nd Snapchat. My enemies go hear am." 

"Pepper dem gang o." Lucy said excitedly

They got to the terrace and were both surprised to see Ella with her makeup kit and mirror.

"Hey girls." She called out

Lucy and Kaima looked at each other in shock and then back to Ella

"Don't tell me you two are hitting the club in those plain clothes. More dreams isn't for children." She said, going back to her makeup

Lucy went close and looked at her intensely

"Are you okay? You ran out of the party looking like you'll cry down this building."

"I cried o, I won't lie because he was very rude and mean to me but then, i remembered one of the movies I featured in and I've decided to give him a clapback. He won't know what hit him."

"That's my girl." Kaima praised

"I'm going to that club and trust me Lucy, I'm gonna steal your shine. "

"Your papa na evangelist o." Lucy mocked

"Remind me of that tomorrow morning joor." Ella said and they burst into laughter

"Since the makeup kit is here, let's get down to business then." Kaima suggested.

LAGOS, NIGERIA

Frank was worried. He had called eleven good times but she wasn't picking her calls. This was the first time Ella wouldn't take his calls even if she was very busy.

The meeting with the board had gone very well and his leave was due in two weeks. He wanted to share the good news with her as the initial plan was that he'll go down to Anambra, spend a week with her before they'll leave for any country of their choice.

He hissed and tried again but to his astonishment, it said switched off. Bow, he has every reason to be worried. 

ANAMBRA, NIGERIA

Ella walked into the room to change her clothes and found her phone on the bed. She picked it up and noticed the battery was dead. She quickly plugged it in and made for the bathroom when she heard the honk of a car.

This was it then. Michael would be damned. She thought as she entered the bathroom.
