Married life
Uche and his wife
Uche ate the Fufu after dipping it inside the Okra soup, his gaze was ahead, he just left the village meeting hours ago...
Ego came from behind him, stared at him and sighed
"Nkem.." She began, but he suddenly coughed
"Get me water", she went inside to get water, then gave him to drink, he drank some and kept the cup.
She sat with him and touched his hair to his body, his body was well healed now, almost like he had no injuries before now, She had wondered at the quick recovery but thanked the gods for it, she didn't want anything to soil her husband's beautiful body.
Her dream to marry him had come to pass but he was more reserved towards her now than when they were friends, he also never asked to sleep with her, and when they finally did it, he said no word during or after it, it was like a duty he had to do but she loved him so much and her heart was aching at his treatment of her.
For three years now she had tried to be a good wife and yet he grew more distant by the day.....was there another woman,? was it possible he had another woman in the village she knew nothing about?, she wondered. The only woman he had ever been with was Obiageli....but she was dead , was Uche still thinking about her...after all this time? Was it possible when he had her as his wife?

"But you've not eaten much"she said looking at the plate
"How much do you want me to eat, I'm full" he said again, she looked at the partially eaten fufu
"Why don't you finish it?", he looked at her then turned back ahead, she stared at him then murmuring stood up and carried the plates to go inside, she had taken her time to make it and yet he just kept wasting her food. She came back to his vexation and crossed her arms staring at him again, he wondered what she was about, he looked up
" what Ego?"
"Nkem" she said sitting on his thighs, she had decided that fighting would not work so she wanted to try other means, she kissed his forehead and roved his chest "Nkem you've not been having time for me" she began "now you don't eat my food"he didn't reply just finished the rest of his water
"Eh..when was the last time you touched me" she continued rubbing his head
"Ego, marriage is not all about that?"
" It is o, it is very important, infact it is the most important part of marriage "
He looked at her and couldn't believe she was talking about it, no wonder she wasn't a virgin, he wondered who had disvirgined her but it wasn't his business
"I mean we should start thinking of making babies"she continued undeterred
"I thought it was your responsibility" he said leaning back
"When you won't touch me, how...would the babies drop?"
He looked down in a smile, then carried her to sit on the chair then stood up, she looked up at him
"I have to go to Kelechi's house" he said looking out
"But you visited him already"
"There's something I have to collect" he said and walked out of the compound, he hoped she was asleep when he returned.
*hmm, how is Ego going to compete with a spirit for her husband's attention?
