Returned - Episode 12

Elizabeth Shaw

 I got outside to have a fresh air, I was boiling. Damn, I hated that girl! I tried to think of why we were best friends in the place, but I could come up with nothing. I kicked the wall angrily before gulping down the drink in my hand.

“Are you alright?” Matt asked.

I nodded. “Yea.”

We were both silence for a while and then his phone rang. He excused himself and came to tell me he had a family emergency.

“Would you like me to take you home now?” he asked but I shook my mind. I wasn’t ready to call it a night.

“Alright then, stay out of trouble,” he said, kissed me on the cheek before leaving.

I sighed and watched him get into his car and drove away.

“Hey babe, that was one hot thing you did in there.”

I turned to see a tall guy beside me. I couldn’t really see his face but I didn’t care so much.

“I’m Andy. I know who you are. Why don’t you come with me, I’ve got something to show you.”

I had witness everything that happened between the two girls but I was more surprised with Elizabeth ’s reaction. She was no longer the shy, weak girl I knew those years back

. She was feisty, and could stand up for herself. I loved this new version of her.

“I think that lady still has feelings for you, Vance .”

I turned to James. “Which of them?”

He grimaced. “Emily  has never had feelings for you, I’m talking about Elizabeth . It’s quite evident, and you’re not letting her off easily. You should stay away from her, don’t toy with her feelings again. I mean it, man!”

I sighed and drank from the bottle in my hand. I seriously doubted that.

Some seconds later, I was outside, busy drinking. I needed to clear my head for a while. The night was dark except for the beautiful stars that lit the sky.

I couldn’t see Elizabeth  anywhere so I thought she must have gone home. Matt would have taken her. I suddenly grew tired of staying around and decided to leave. I climbed down the steps and walked towards where the cars were parked.

I had only taken few steps when I heard screams.

“Help! Let go of me!”

The voice sounded familiar and it took me just few seconds to realize it was Elizabeth . I rushed towards the direction of the car. She was locked in the car with some guy who was trying to  force himself on her. I knew who he was, Andy Lonzo, he was a drug addict, and a bad news. He was one of Killian’s men.

I went straight to his window side and knocked vehemently. He stopped and rolled down a bit. I was able to put my hand and punched him in the nose.

“Holy fuck!” he screamed. “You broke my nose!”

Then I opened the car from within. I punched him several more times before dragging him out of the car, then I pulled Elizabeth  out.

He said nothing as he pulled me out. He looked really angry but he was quiet. I never knew I would be so happy to see Vance  as I was when he came to rescue me.

I followed him to his car which he opened. Quietly, I walked into it. He angrily slammed the door after me. I tried to be calm without raising my voice at him. Even though he had saved me, it was because of him that douchebag had tried to force himself on him.

He climbed into the car and we were driving off. We were both quiet until we were close to getting to my house. Then it all started.

“What the hell were you thinking, Elizabeth ? Getting into the car with that bastard?”

“Don’t shout at me, Vance !” I shouted back. “I never knew he was a son of a bitch. I guess it’s my luck to always meet the bad guys.”

“What does that mean?”

“It means I don’t understand you, Vance . Why did you rescue me? What do you want from me? To have another go at me, because that was what the idiot said!”

He pressed the brakes sharply.  “What exactly did he tell you?”

“Oh, he told me everything,” I replied. “You want the spotlight so much, you would do anything for it, including finding an innocent girl and making her your plaything. Get her to fall for you and then dump her in the most wicked way!”

I saw him wince. He wasn’t expecting that. He looked very vulnerable, almost close to looking guilty.

“I know I was the fool you had to use,” I continued, my voice breaking. “And I know you would do this again if you have the chance. I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve such wickedness from you,” I continued. Now tears were flowing down my cheeks. “Please, stop hurting me and just let me go.”

Without waiting any further, I climbed down the car and began to walk away. My house was just few feet away.

“Elizabeth ,” he called, climbing out of the car and following me. “Elizabeth , damn it! Would you stop and listen to me?”

I stopped as he shouted.

“Everything you said is true! I’m a bad person, a coward….but…that’s all I have.”

He sounded really sad and I turned to look at him. He was leaning against the car, looking really dejected.

“I love you so much, Elizabeth . If I could take everything back, I would.”

I felt a powerful heat surged through me as he said that. He was beginning to walk towards me. I could feel my heart beating really fast.

“I fell in love with you too along the way, even though it started with a lie. I tried to get over you for two years but then you came back. It got me scared. I’m so sorry for everything I put you through…Everything was not a lie, I never stopped loving you. I was just too stupid taking you for granted…thinking what I needed was a spotlight.”

Without realization, I felt the tears come down my cheeks as he continued.

. “About your friend, I dumped her because she hurt you so bad. I only used her to get what I wanted but I punished her, because of what  she did to you.”

We stared at each other for a while. Just by gazing into the silver flecks of his eyes,  I could tell he was speaking the truth. It all made sense.

“I keep coming around you,” he went on, tilting my chin upwards. “Because I’m in love with you and I can’t be without you.”

A few seconds passed before Vance  hovered his lips against mine. Oh dear!

He pulled me flushed against him, deepening the kiss filled with rage and lust. My lips began to move on their own will, pressing against his demanding ones with desire. We were both trying to see who can dominate the other’s lips.

As the intensity of the kiss grew, it became more rough and aggressive. Abnormally, an old feeling I’ve been trying to push away reignited, changing the inside of me.

He manoeuvred his hands to my hips as he bit into my lower lip, tugging on it. When a moan escaped his lips, I froze suddenly and instantly pulled away. His eyes gazed passionately into mine, causing my heart to pound uncontrollably against my rib-cage.

“No, no! I can’t do this! You can’t come and kiss me in public and then disgrace me publicly.  I can’t make this same mistake again!”

With this, I twisted my body out of his grip and ran as fast as I could.
