Second Chance - Episode 30

KATHIA

I was still in my pajamas, the way I had slept was how I woke.  I looked around the unkept room.

She sat in front of the mirror, packing her hair into a pony tail while my cloths were lying here and there...my cloths!

Then I realized she was wearing my pink short gown .....

"What the hell are you doing in my gown!"

Hannah jumped as she heard my voice. Then she turned and screamed .

"Oh My God! You are back! That was too soon!" She jumped and quickly rushed to my side embracing and almost choking life out of me.

"How was it...where did you go? Please tell me you finally had sex! Wait what happened? Why are you back so soon? Oh my God we need to call Lucinda!"

"What do you mean so soon? I  have spent almost four months. Do you think I would be spending century there?"

"Four months? You have only been sleeping for one day Kathia"

I raised a brow.

"Are you for real?"

She nodded.

"I didn't expect you so soon" She replied.

"So that was why you are planning on wearing all my cloths before I come back?"

"I was just bored and I needed to feel as if you are still here with me. Come on, forget the cloth, tell me everything"

I sat down..."Wait..first..get me a cold bottle of coke and God! I am starving!"

. I was so hungry, I had no idea why I kept eating and eating.

“You better don’t kill yourself Kathia.” Hannah warned.

I gave no reply, I will gladly die if it means waking up beside Miguel.

“She needs all the strength she can get right now.” Lucinda said, we had gone to her house later that day.

“But, I do not get it. So what happens now?” Hannah asked, getting tired of watching me eat.

“Well, one thing is, she succeeded on her mission so, everything is fine now. No more freaking out when she sees her pictures or reflections, no more nightmares.”

“So she is free to date anyone else?”

At that, my appetite vanished and I stared at Lucinda expectantly.

“Sure, she is free to live a normal life, she will find happiness in whosoever she chooses.”

“Yeah! Babe, we are hitting the club tonight. I ‘ve got some fine dudes I will like to introduce you to. “

My heart sank. I did not want anyone else!

“I was married Lucinda, I had this connection with Miguel. Even though it’s like a dream right now, it felt so real. I don’t think I want anyone else.”

“Well, then, if that is the case, maybe we should just wait , there is no need to rush. You may be surprised as to what fate has in store for you.” She said, smiling suspiciously and somehow…I believed her…

"Babe, I do not like this look on your face , you like like someone mourning, please you need to stop this"

I sighed at Hannah's complaint but still kept mute. We were in her room, we were supposed to go out and I had no idea where we were going, not that I had any interest anyways. Ever since last two weeks that I had been back, I have not stepped out of the house. I was just too sad and I couldn't shake it off. I felt as if my life just got even more boring. Hannah did everything, but I kept disappointing her. This time, she just got us two tickets to an exhibition which she said was the biggest thing in town now.  She was already dressing up but I was still lying down.

"Is it a must I go with you babe?" I later asked.

The look she sent me made me keep quiet. " You better not be ask me that Kath. You know how much I used in getting these two tickets? The price could feed us for a month you know right?"

I shook my head. Hannah could waste money on trivial things but I knew she did it so I wouldn't be able to say I wouldn't go since she wasted so much.

She was powdering her face now..

"What dress am I wearing since, you have been wearing all my cloths.." I said intentionally but she stood up, opened the wardrobe and threw me a blue dress. I noticed there was still a tag on the dress, meaning it was new. I smiled.

"Would you be so generous as to do my make-up?"

She glared at me and kept quiet then she returned her attention to the mirror.....the mirror didn't make me feel awkward anymore since I got back.

"Just keep quiet and sit down, I will attend to you soon" She replied.

I scoffed then stood up. Went to her side and packing her make-up kit, I made a run for my room.

"Kathia...I am going to kill you...I hope you know that" I heard her scream.

"No problem, I will just wake up in another world" I screamed back.

"You would wake up in hell for sure" She retorted and we both laughed.

"That was so mean, you know?" I later said to her as she entered.

"I know" She replied. "Now, go wash your face first and don't waste my time, we are already running a bit late!"

The  Travis gallery was big, huge, large all at the same time and had so many groups of people fashionably dressed. The ceilings were so high with expensive chandeliers illuminating the room.

There was so many display of arts on the wall as different  guides explained each art to different groups all at the same time. There were also tables and seats for dining and wining.  Soft group of musicians were playing  afar off, close to the place reserved for sitting.

"WOW!" Hannah said, pointing to a work of art on the wall but I had no interest in looking at it.

"Do you mind if we go sit?" I asked with lack of interest.

Hannah looked at me again with that look that spelt 'I-CAN-NOT-BELIEVE-THIS'

"You can go on and sit, I will join . You are such a disappointment" SHe replied and went to join a group of people.

I exhaled and beckoned to a waitress who passed me the remaining cup in her tray.

I sat alone at the table. This was really a bad idea. Hannah of many years ago was obedient and wouldn't make me do what I didn't want to do. This Hannah was really a pain in the ass.

As I drank, the memories came again, this time it was my mothers face. Too bad, I was unable to say goodbye to her.

. The whole adventure as Hannah called it, was becoming more like a dream to me. Even though it happened. I had gone to see the Psychic the following day. She was happy to see me and she told me not to be depressed but be happy since things were going to turn around for me.  For me, nothing has changed. I would do anything to go back...if only I could see him one more time...

The dreams didn't come again, these days I hardly dream,I have been sleeping even better than I used to. Still, deep inside, I was so depressed and so unhappy. The Psychic said things would change, why were things not changing.

I tried desperately not to think of Miguel or to picture his face, it was like a torture to me anytime I saw his face and I wanted to stop, yet I knew I missed him, so much..but now, he has gone with my dreams.

I noticed Hannah was talking with a man in suit, he was way taller than she was and they seemed to be getting along. The man was saying things causing Hannah to laugh.

I scoffed. Hannah was such a slut.

I watched as the man took her hand in his and then led her to the dancing floor and she winked at me.

I rolled my eyes and gulped down the remaining drink. What was I doing here...

Just then I had a feeling someone was watching me and then I turned around and my heart stopped beating. We held each other's countenance for a while before the lady in front of him, waved at him to take back his attention and he quickly ran his hand in his black faux hawk hair...like he used to...

I shut my eyes and opened them....no...i couldn't be...

Standing few feet away from me, looking dapper in a blue-black tuxedo and signing some document was Miguel………my Miguel....
