Jessica
*So sorry all for the delay.. Very busy with work... *
Jessica dropped her bag on the kitchen counter wondering where her mother went.. there was food on the gas cooker so she knew she was home, she was the only child of her single mother, father had left them when she was six years old and her mother had single-handedly raised her refusing to remarry...
They had become very close over the years because of this having gone through a lot of hardship together... But that was up until a year ago...
"Mom? "she called out
"I'm coming o" there was shuffling upstairs "help me check the food"
Jessica opened the pot of jollof rice and stirred it after which she carried it down, her mother came into the kitchen toweling her hair having just had her bath, Jessica looked at her surprised, it was 7pm
"going somewhere? "she asked
"nope.. "she replied popping the p, Jessica stared at her then decided to go upstairs and keep her bag, when she returned, dinner was set, she sat down to eat while her mother stared at her
"so how is school? I haven't seen you in a month "her mother remarked
"Been very busy, project and all"she sipped her juice
"so busy that you could'nt even call your mother"
"was there a reason you asked me over? "Jessica asked irritated
"do I need to have a reason? "
"Mom.. "
"you beating yourself up over a young man that has moved on.

There was silence on the table, Her mom Christy finally reached for her hand
"I'm so sorry.. I wish I could take it back but I cant.. I was blinded by the riches, thought he would make us live better, just wanted the best for you.. " a pause, Jessica was staring into space, then she finally said
"it's not your fault mom, I also fell for his lies. I was in love with him" she admitted sadly
Christy squeezed her hand" you can't allow him win baby... you have to move on, one year is enough to heal, see what he has done.. he has made you a shadow of yourself...but you can't keep allowing him laugh wherever he is, you have to go out, date and forget him, I guess there are real nice men out there who would make you forget him in a hurry "
Yeah they were, Alex for one is really nice, she thought, he wasn't the kind of person that would hurt a woman ...but then again that was what she thought about Desmond until he showed her his true colors.. her mind on its own started going to thoughts of the party.. And the guy in it.. she stopped it
..Could she really trust any man again..
Jessica thought about the truth of it, Desmond did her damages, but she had to move out of it..live her life
"you are stronger than you think, we can get through this" her mom continued, Jessica glanced at her then turned back ahead..deciding to give it a try.
