The Emerald Chase - Episode 2

Walking down the hall way where he had seen her pass a few minutes ago, he hears noises so he quickened his step and stops when he sees her watching a man sitting on the floor and groaning in pain... "Emerald?" He called ********** "Emerald?" She hears someone call out... No one addresses her by her real name so who could it be? She wonders as she turns.... "Brother?!!" She exclaims as her lips broke into a huge smile... She run towards him and wraps her arms around him, hugging him like her life depended on it..... "Emerald, my precious sister.. I'm sorry" "Don't be sorry brother." "I should be... You shouldn't be doing this kind of job.. I'm supposed to be taking care of you" "I'm not complaining am I?" She managed a smile "You don't need to complain before I take action.. Work these days arent going well" he told her.. "You have never even told me about the job you do.. Anytime I ask, you avoid my question" He coughed and turned, unable to look her in the eyes.. How was he supposed to tell her that in order to survive, he had resorted to faking his identity and duping people of their money on social network platforms... "Come Emerald, go change your clothes so we can go get something to eat" he said diverting the conversation.. She sighed.. He wasn't going to tell her anything about the kind of work he did.. "Okay Elvis" she muttered and strolled into the dressing room....

Several minutes later, they were seated at the eatery close to the club eating their sandwiches in silence... As they ate, Elvis let his eyes roam around and his heart catches in his chest when he sets eyes on a tall, dark, bulky dangerous looking man enter the eatery... It wasn't about his intimidating looks but there was a tattoo on the man's left arm.. Visible enough for anyone to notice.. He had seen that same tattoo at the same side of the arm before, fifteen years ago on that fateful night.... He had made to sure register that tattoo in his brain and he would recognize it anytime, anywhere ... The man turned and their eyes met briefly.. A cold chill run down his spine.. He dropped his sandwich and paid for it.. "Emerald we need to leave" he whispered "But why? We just got here" "I don't have time to answer you just get up" he said sternly and without waiting for her reply, he grabbed her hand and walked out hurriedly with her.... He could feel the bulky man's eyes following them.... "Walk faster!" He told his sister as he quickened his steps... He turned and saw the man following them from a distance.... Walking for a few minutes, Elvis pushes Emerald into a corner and follows.. "Take off your necklace" he whispers. Emerald glances at the necklace she was wearing over her neck "I have never taken this off brother" "I know but please take it off now.. Our lives are at stake. Take it off please" he begs "What are you talking about? We left the eatery in a hurry and now you want me to take off my necklace because our lives are at stake? This is just a necklace" "No Emerald, this is not just a common necklace.. Believe me, this necklace can lead us to secrets that can destroy many lives and save many lives as well.. Its the same necklace for which our parents gave up their life for.. I promise we will come back for it" he explains and takes off the necklace from around her neck, digs the ground with his hand and buries it..... "If anyone approaches us, please act normal" he added and wiped his hands.. He could hear the footsteps of someone approaching them in the corner... It was probably the same man that was following them... He had to do something quick... He turns to his sister and only one thought crosses his mind.... "Forgive me sister but I need to do this to save our lives" he says and immediately rips her shirt open and pulls her closer and crushes his lips with hers, kissing her. "Hello there!!" the bulky man greets as soon as he gets to where they were, a cold smile breaking across his face....
