The Fall Of The Giant, Anukili The Great - Episode 3
Anukili's decisions and demands happened to be too difficult for some of the villagers to keep. People began harvesting crops, burying the dead and having marriage ceremonies as well, all in the absence of Anukili. The fear of what Anukili might do to them if he found out their secret became their weakness. However they did not stop, they continued having their way until one day when Anukili found out. He penalized them and threatened to dismiss anyone who defied any of his orders.
The villagers panicked. The fear of Anukili befell them. A number of people began to commit suicide, while some ran away from their father land [Eziagulu], all due to Anukili’s act.
One day, the oldest man shouted "Alu! (Abomination), for how long would we live in the fear of one man, must we all die before Anukili will stop maltreating us? Does he expect us to run away from Eziagulu, which we have done before or for us to become slaves to him in our own land. What have we not done to please him, we have even extended our respect by worshiping him like our 'chi' and he is still treating us this way. Being a giant and the strongest in our midst, he is expected to guide and protect us, and even train our young men as warriors. Instead, he uses his power to mislead and maltreat us

. This has to stop!" He affirmed. "There must be a way to stop Anukili and we must find that way and stop him. The children of Eziagulu cannot go extinct because of Anukili; instead he will leave Eziagulu by force. If he thinks he is superior to Eziagulu, he can’t be to Aguleri. If he doesn’t know or has forgotten, he had better ask what happened to his co-giant warriors Onoja-nwa-obili and Otokwulijojo when they believed they were bigger than Aguleri or that Aguleri could not do without them.

. He should be careful otherwise; he will face the anger of Eziagulu Aguleri”.
The villagers heard his voice and came out to console him, telling him it will all come to an end someday and become a story. The old man asked them in tears, “When will it be? When everybody has died or ran away from Eziagulu? 'Mbanu!' (No) 'Chukwu amakwe!' (God forbid), 'Okenye amano Ewu amuo nogbuli' (an elderly man can’t sit and watch abominable things happen. Over my dead body! This has to stop, it must stop now even if I must sacrifice my last breath for it to stop, I will!" he declared.
While the man was still talking, two persons ran to him and whispered to him to reduce his voice because Anukili was passing. The old man replied, “Should I run and hide, or better still jump up and start crying just because Anukili is passing? No way, not any more. Anukili should be told the truth" he said. The villagers tried to shut him up if he dare ask them any question, but he refused asking them, "How long will we panic and live in fear? People are dying, committing suicide every day, some have ran away, all because of Anukili. Here we are suffering and starving ourselves, all just to meet up with the demands of one man who called himself Anukili-ogu. Henceforth, no one should take any food items to him again", he concluded.
Anukili walked in while the old man was still declaring, the villagers stared at one another as soon as they noticed him. “So you are that brave man opposing my decisions?” he asked the old man. The old man answered, I’m not just challenging your decisions but also telling you to stop maltreating the people of Eziagulu. Leave us alone Anukili, Eziagulu was at peace and in harmony before you were brought into this world, grew up and became obstacle to us, Anukili leave us alone he said.
