Derrick:

I brush my knuckle against her soft cheeks as my heart beat ten to the dozen in my chest. This is insane. I have never felt this much for anyone in my life an I've known her for how long? A week? She's just too amazing. Even after how she's treated in that house, she's crying because she's worried they won't take care of her grandmother like she would. My sweet girl. Okay, maybe she isn't mine but what if I made her mine? Shut up Derrick! You already signed a contract. Her breath fan against my chin and I curse it all to hell! I need to taste those lips again. Just to make sure I didn't imagine the sparkles from the last time.
"Derrick!!!!" The familiar squeal of my sister reach my ears and I pull away as reason set in. I can feel Maya's eyes on me but I can't look. I get off the bench as Deana barrel into me with extreme force. She hold me really tight in a hug and I ruffle her hair just to annoy her.
"Not cool Derry! Don't mess with the hair!" She slam her fist against my shoulder and I chuckle.
"Calm down Deana." I raise my hands up in surrender and we both burst into laughter.
"I can't believe you got married! Where's my sister in law?!" She push pass me to meet Maya who's blushing behind me.
"Maya?!" Deana wrap my poor wife in one of her tight hugs and I send Maya an apologetic look. She just smile.
"Deana let go of the poor woman and come help me with your impossibly many luggage!" I turn back to see Jordan carrying about three suitcases!
He drops the bags on the sand and walk up to us

. Deana finally let's go of Maya. I notice Jordan stop short when he sees Maya and there's this weird look on his face as he stares at her but I can't place it. The look is gone in a flash and I think I must have imagined it.
"That's not impossibly many. I was packing light anyways" Deana states, distracting me from studying Jordan.
"You guys won't ever understand!" Deana huff then turn to Maya.
"I didn't go overboard with my luggage right, Maya?" She ask. All three pairs of eyes focus on my sweet girl and I watch Maya bite down on her bottom lip. I can tell she wants to support Deana but she doesn't want to lie.
"Leave her alone Deana. You are making her uncomfortable." Jordan says a little too seriously. What's his problem? An uncomfortable silence descend on the four of us but thankfully Xavier comes up to us with Beatrice who quickly move to stand beside her friend.
"Looking good, Deana." He drawls and Deana shoot him a dirty look. The both of them never did get along with each other.
"I can see you are still a skirt chaser." She deadpan and Xavier smile sheepishly.
"I wouldn't call it skirt chasing." He says cheekily.
"Let me guess. You prefer calling it appreciating God's works right?" Jordan put in and Xavier's grin get bigger.
"Ah! Someone who understands me. I like your fiance Deana. Too bad he'll be stuck with you for life. I feel sorry for you, man." Jordan hides his grin when Deana shoot him a murderous look but I can't help but chuckle. I see Maya frown while Beatrice looks anywhere but at Deana.
"Jordan is more than ecstatic to spend his life with me. Too bad I can't say the same for Beatrice here. She looked like she couldn't get away from you sooner. I don't blame her. With the amount of STI you are carrying any sane girl will do same." Everyone cracks up at the priceless look on Xavier's face. Beatrice is laughing so hard and I feel bad for Xavier.
"I don't have any STI." Xavier says but who cares? Deana won this round of their bickering.
"Sweethearts, let's go get some drinks at the bar. I'm tired of these guys." Deana says and pull on both Beatrice's and Maya's hands as they saunter off towards the hotel.
"Your sister is the demon herself!" Xavier says when the ladies are out of sight and I chuckle.
"You should know not to mess with her." She never backs down and I'm glad I invited her over. She's the perfect distraction to make sure I don't do something I'll regret. Especially as I already asked the hotel to put up an extra bed in our room.
I push my hands into my pocket as I smirk at my plan.

Rose:
"Mom, I want out of this! Nelson will be back in three days!" I yell, completely distraught. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. Yes I want the money and the affluence but living with a violent man and a rapist? I can't!
"Calm down Rose. You just need to tell him it's over." My mom try to placate me but she doesn't understand. It's not that easy.
"Nelson is a lunatic mom. I don't think I can just break things off like that. I mean look a my face mom. He's a f*cking monster!"
"Maybe it's time we leave this town then. We can find someone richer elsewhere. You are stunning. It shouldn't be a hard feat for you." Mom says and I finally plop down on her sofa.
"I can't." I state.
"What do you mean you can't? You just said he's a monster and that you want out."
"Yes. But I want Derrick. You know he's got my heart. I can't let go now that he's back. I have to fight for our love."
"What love? You left the man for his brother! Are you crazy?" She seem to be getting angry as she accuse me like she's a saint.
"That was all because of you! You think I don't know you set all those 'accidental' meetings with Nelson? This was what you wanted so don't you dare cast blames!" I shake my index finger in her face angrily. She guiltily shrug as she plop into the sofa too.
"Okay. You are right. I wanted you to end up with Nelson. But that's because that Derrick of a guy was too slow! Your father doesn't bother to send us money anymore. The last time I went shopping with my friends and my cards got rejected. Can you imagine the shame?! I am sure those old wenches are laughing at me behind my back." She starts wiping stray tears from her eyes and I sigh tiredly.
"Your father blocked my cards, Rose.

"I could have gotten married if not for you Rose. I'm not blaming you but then I decided not to get married so I can take care of you better. So don't blame me."
"Come on mother. I'm not blaming you. I know of all your sacrifices. You deserve all the good things of life and I'll give them to you. But don't you want these wenches to see you shine? That will be the biggest slap to their botox faces." I say. Mother wipe her tears and nod.
"You're right but Nelson is proving hard to use."
"I know." I sigh again. Mother just look deep in thought and when I see her perfectly made up face lift in a smirk, I know at once that she's concocting one of her ingenious plans.
"We just have to remove him from the equation." She says.
"How?"
"Leave that to me. Just get ready to make Derrick come back to you." She deadpans and I nod.
