The Man I Love - Episode 13

I have always loved you right from NYSC

 camp Niger state. I left because I couldn't
 bear the fact that I found it difficult to tell
 you about how I felt about you.

Please forgive me for not keeping in touch, 

I lost all my contacts, I actually reconnected with Richard about a year ago on Facebook, he gave me your number, he also told me 
you were based in Benin. 

I'm sorry I didn't make efforts to reach out
 to you since then. I honestly didn't know
 how to face you.

I called you the moment i arrived Benin 
because I still would have checked on you to know how you were faring irrespective of 
my wedding arrangement."

A tear drop dripped from her right eye, it 
was apparently from the tears that had 
swelled up in her eyes while he was yet
 speaking.

"I know Victor, 

Richard told me about it. 

Why would you decide to leave just like that without first leting me know you were in
 love with me.

you should have told me.... Why didn’t voice it?

You should have voiced your intentions 
instead of concealing it and 

assuming on your own that I would reject
 you like I did to the other persons that came my way

. " she reprimanded.

"I was scared Tosin!" He replies

“You are not others, so why were you afraid of what was in your heart?” she asks…

The father as at this time was standing right in front of his office watching and listening
 to the both of them, 

"so you mean these two are familiar with
 each other, Interesting!" He exclaimed, as
 he blushed in ecstacy.

"I have to leave now Victor, you have a lot of wedding arrangements to do and I think 
that should be the focus for now, please 
excuse me" she says walking away.

And Vil wept…

 his father walked up to him and wipes his
 tears using his handkerchief.

“Come here my son” he says pulling Vil to
 himself.

“Do you trust God?” His father asks

“yes dad” he responds

"Then relax, everything will be fine" his 
father encouraged.

Suddenly his phone rang, it was Hani…

Her brother had used her phone to call him,

“Uncle please come, aunty Hani has fainted
 in the twinkling of an eye", he says in a 
panicky voice.

She has been vomiting since morning and
 she also complained of body weakness.

She suddenly started feeling dizzy and 
slumped before before we could say jack…

Uncle please come and help us, save my 
aunty” 

“what! How?! He asked in bewildment. 

Silence

The silence from the other end made him
 realise that the call had ended before he
 could ask further questions.

“Daddy I have to go to now”, 

"What happened son?"

"I don't have the time dad, i will explain in
 detail when i return." he pecked him and
 left.

Vil hurriedly drove to her house, she was
 still unconscious when he arrived. 

Her parents were all confounded by the
 whole scenario, 

"This is really strange!" Her parents 
exclaimed.

Vil took her to the hospital in company of
 her younger brother, he asked the youngest son to stay back with their parents.

 “Please relax, she will be fine, I will call you when we get to the hospital" vil encouraged her parents as he quickly carried her from
 the floor to his car.

 In few minutes they arrived at the clinic.

The Doctor and the nurses attended to her
 as it was an emergency.

They admitted her and carried out series of tests.

Vil paced along the corridor for a while, 
Different thought ran through his mind.

He saw her brother crying seriously and 
averted his eyes, but he couldn’t stand his
 tears, thus he moved closer to him.

“Calm down!

 she will be fine. You are a man my dear and men ought not to cry.

If you are crying like this what do you think your mother will do?" He advised him 
wiping the tears on the young man's face.

I would suggest you go and wait in the car, I will call you when it’s necessary, by the way,

Take this and get yourself a drink, it will 
dampen down your tension” he said
 squeezing a few note on his palm.

“Thank you”, he muttered..as he walks out of the clinic.

Vil sighed in relief, 

She regained consciousness almost
 immediately, Vil sat on the hospital bed 
with his eyes fixed on her.

“She is fit to go home now, there’s nothing 
wrong with her actually except for the usual discomfort experienced by some women
 during pregnancy”
