The Twist - Episode 9
The mattress was soft and warm.
Mark turned on his side for the 5th times and continued to think about Ndidi.
What made her not to show up today must be very important.
He heard Bashir opening the gate and checked the time. 9pm.
The deep throat sound of the twin turbo Rolls Royce Coupe told him Amaka was back from where ever she went to.
He won't ask her anything because she had ceased to asked him equally why he often came back late.
He heard her came inside the house.
She went to the kitchen and spent some time there.
Mark listened silently.
She later came inside the vast bedroom, put on the soft bed side lamp and stared at Mark who pretended to be asleep.
Through half closed eyes, Mark watched her undress in front of the big mirror.
She prepared herself for the night, turned off the bedside lamp and slid on the bed beside him.
Mark stirred sleepy and shifted away from her.
He could not bring himself to sleep on the same bed with her after his imagination got clouded by Ndidi's savage love making.
Amaka, filled to the brim with good champagne, took the hint immediately and slept off.
Though she was in the mood but her husband's attitude pissed her off.
A few minutes later Mark heard her snoring.
He got off the bed, moved to the refrigerator and took a bottle of French whiskey and a glass.
He poured himself a good measure and downed the whole content in one gulp.
He poured the second shot and took another gulp.
His afternoon had been frustrating.
After what transpired between him and Ndidi the other day, he had woke up early the next day, took a quick shower and rushed out of his house in a joyful mood of meeting Ndidi.
He had called her and asked her to come straight to the hotel that morning; that he wanted to spend time with her.
Ndidi wanted to be difficult because of her job but after promising her another cash gift, she had agreed.
With enthusiasm; Mark had relaxed in his pent suite and waited for complete 2 hours for Ndidi to show up.
He had called her but she is not picking.
Out of anxiety Mark had texted her to please come to the hotel.
Ndidi had replied the text she is coming.
The hours had dragged by.
Mark went to the vast swimming pool and had a swim just to kill time.
He had went to the bar and drank a full bottle of whiskey.
The midday day gave way to afternoon and feeling tensed; Mark had watched the sun set slowly as evening crawled by.
He kept on calling Ndidi but she isn't picking.
Then around 6pm Ndidi sent him a text she won't becoming to the hotel because she is not feeling fine.
He was about to go to the restaurant and eat when he saw the text.
He lost all appetite and and moved to the hotel garage.
Feeling frustrated with thumping heart, Mark had drove home.
How could she be so heartless? he asked himself.
Is she not aware he needed her the way a junkie needed a fix? Remembering they had just met, he calmly controlled his jittery nerves and lie down on his bed.
He had occupied his mind with the thought of Ndidi as night approached.
At a point he made up his mind never to see her again but he dismissed the thought quickly from his mind.
He knew the sight of her alone in his hotel room is strong enough to make him forget any positive decision he is making now.
He pictured her removing her clothes slowly in the hotel room, the mischief look on her face and the way she clung to him while he plugged into the tunnel of love made him to began to call her again that night.
When she refused to pick on the fourth ring Mark had given up and swallowed his drink.
He must go to their office opposite the hotel tomorrow morning and see her.
She will be pleased to see him and perhaps, she might even spend the night with him in his hotel suite.
Feeling pleased with this thought he slowly moved to the bed and lay near his sleeping wife...
