The unstoppable Achiever - Episode 7
Gabby POV...
I heard What happened to my roommate in an evening newspaper. It was little compared to what could have happened to me if I was there in the room that day. Time has passed though but bad memories still lingers. Youth is a trying time for everyone. Prone to making mistakes.( Be mindful how you live your life , don't waste it).
My first girlfriend on campus was an American whose father was a Doctor in one of the hospitals. A very suspicious and authoritative person she was. You dare not greet even your own sister on campus. If you do so and she sees it you should expect verbal lashing afterward. Extremely possessives. One day,we had a quarrel and fought.. She broke my TV and I gave her the beating of her life and subsequently moved to another location to live with my friend Sammy and dated another girl. I thought this was over, no, I was far too wrong. Seven months later, I got information that people were coming for my life so I had to run as far as northern Nigeria.
Dave POV...
I was the son of a priest and very calm and innocent looking. Very neat in dressing and always in the company of few devoted friends. Mostimes carrying one or two books and this makes people think of me as a cool gentleman".
My extravagance live style couple with my insatiability for material possessions , especially to show off on campus, made me work for the Boss. I knew he was evil

. But he paid me handsomely for every hit I carried out. Yes I was the hit man that's the reason he called me the guillotine. I was so hardened that nothing bad I did , meant anything to me. I virtually love to maim people. ( imagine the son of a priest, hmm!) I graduated with good results. Don't ask me how I manage !!!
I left for my aunt's place partly to assist her and partly to hide from reprisals.
" Dave picks your call,'' someone said to me
"Hello I said"
"Hello is that Dave " a voice at the other end said.
"Yes this is Dave"
"May I know who is on the line."
"It's uncle Ben. Your mum told me you've completed your compulsory one year NYSC program. I have a job for you. Come to Lagos as soon as possible."
I left for Lagos and got employed in a multinational company. I worked hard and didn't allow my past life to cross my work. Rapidly, I rose to the position of a managing director of the company . One day, a permanent secretary in one of the parastatals in our state, who was also a former classmate of mine, recommended me for an appointment as the Personal assistant to our state governor . I gladly took the offer since the company I was working for was having a strong tax issue with the federal government and was at the brink of liquidation. This was how I left Lagos
Sammy POV...
I was in a board meeting one afternoon at the hotel when a call came to me with Nigerian code. I took an excuse and left the room to my office.
"Hello, this is Sammy, Sammy Martins ,may I know who I'm speaking with"
" Sammy, this is Dave , the PA to the governor . You gave me your number at the hotel. Remember?"
*Yea I do, how can I help you" I said
"Something good came up, I need to talk to you about it " Dave said
" Ok, Ok I'm in the middle of a meeting , In 15 minutes time, I will call you with this number when I'm done. Is that ok" I said to him
"Ok, Sammy , ok"
"I went back to attend the meeting "
After the meeting, I drove off to an eatery near by and called Dave
It was then Dave told me I have been appointed a PA to the governor that I should send him my email so as to forward the letter to me.
" You mean you lobbied for the appointment on my behalf" I said to Dave
"Yes, In had to. What are friends for" Dave responded
" That was very kind of you. You are really a friend. Thanks " I said appreciatively.
I gave him the email on the spot and went back to the office. In the evening at home, I saw the appointment letter he sent when I checked my mail. I was supposed to give my consent under 7 working days.
Seven what? I replied right there and sent it back to Dave. I later called him to tell him
On receiving my consent , the terms and conditions of service was sent to me as an advance copy and I was to report to work in a month's time.
Getting the work seems to be easy; breaking the good news to my children that I'm going back to Nigeria, facing Dr Steven and most especially, my wife Sandra ,seems a daunting task.
"For 3 days I was racking my brain for a solution. Meanwhile, I bought things I would need in Nigeria, and stacked them in my friend's place.
