I WILL NEVER DANCE AGAIN!

I typed it on my tab and pasted it on the homescreen, then showed it to Lisa. She glanced at it with primed lips, then she gave a satisfied look and paid the cashier. Some seconds later, we said goodbye to the nurses and left the hospital.

On our way home, she was quiet and so was I. There was no way I would say anything, even if I could talk, the pain on my lips would have prevented me from doing that. The punch was definitely not from  this planet.

I sighed and tried to look at myself in the side mirror. I have gotten for myself a broken nose and a swollen lip all because I was trying to be nice. I shifted a little to the front and quickly glanced sideways at Lisa but she ignored me completely.

It was just am harmless dance, until Tommy stormed in and threw me a punch which made me cough blood. His wife screamed and tried to hold him back but he was already calling security. Through the commotion, I spotted Lisa outside, looking at us without flinching. She looked as if she was enjoying the show and I knew she had probably been there all the while

. Why didn’t she warn me?

She said nothing to me throughout our way home and I didn’t disturb her.

Later that day, some minutes after we got home safely, I was sitting at the corridor, playing the new game Freddie had given me on ,my tab. So I recalled that during the commotion, Freddie wasn’t there, I wondered where he had taken him to but it was not my business.

“I hope you ‘ve learned your lesson!”

I looked up to see Anika. She was wearing a pair of tight black shorts and a  pink spag. She looked relaxed and I still hated the satisfied look on her face.

I said nothing and returned to my game.

 “Why were you dancing with her anyway?”

I looked up again. Then I thought about it. I was dancing with her, not because I liked dancing but because I wanted to make her happy. she seemed very unhappy and that was the only thing I could think of.

“If you like dancing so well, why couldn’t you just ask me? Instead, you went to dance with a married woman and you got yourself a broken nose!”

She had stressed the “Married” Part.

I shut down the tab and looked at her, half smiling.

I knew for sure that she quite enjoyed what had happened. But why was she asking me why I danced with the woman? Could that be a hint of jealousy? No, it wouldn’t be. Lisa is one very hot lady who only saved my life. She wouldn’t like to be with a man who has got an empty brain and who is a nobody.

I took my tab and typed what I knew could probably put an end to all this.

I  AM SORRY FOR DISOBEYING YOU LISA. NOW CAN WE STOP TALKING ABOUT THIS?

She read aloud and nodded. “No problem.”

There is something wrong somewhere but I can’t lay a finger on it!

I went back inside and put on my laptop. My thesis stared right back at me and I found out that I’ve got some emails. I leaned back and shut it down. Then I began to think of what had happened.

Seeing Tommy in that car was like Déjà vu! I said nothing and he said nothing too. I knew I could have warned my friend but I wanted him to be punished and I quite enjoyed it. Was that wrong?

Maybe a little.

I leaned forward and put on the laptop again.

. Then I began to scroll through my messages. Doctor Randy had replied. He was a neurologist. I clicked on the message. It was Vincent’s result about the cause of his muteness. I quickly read through.

He said it was as a result of a trauma and he would need everything that would make him happy , so happy that he would be willing to talk. He said that the desire would need to be so great that the part of his brain which is responsible for speech would be stimulated as it has been idle for a long time. He also said to do this on time so that it wouldn’t be dead and remain like that forever.

I shut down the laptop again.

I thought about the whole thing. The way he was happy today when I saw him with Anika was like I have never seen before. His face was all lightened up and he felt so alive….even with the kid.

No! There is no way I would let him go back to that woman. I would have to be better than Anika, I would have to make him like me more than he liked her……
