(The light falls on Qurak compound. He walks in with Dinaji in tow carrying palm winewine gourds, Kaiya sights them and drops the mat she is weaving).
KAIYA: Father, welcome (she seems disorganized as she collects the rope from her father) You came late today, father.
QURAK: My daughter, the gourds were heavier today. Maybe, it because I am growing old and my sons have all chosen different occupations. Thank this young man here, he helped me.
DINAJI: Where should I keep the gourds father?
QURAQ: Kaiya take him inside and tell him where to drop it. (The two go inside. He draws out a stool and seats). He calls me father.....
And there is something familiar about this young man.
DINAJI: (He bows) I should take my leave.
QURAK: Wait! My son, Kaiya bring the man a seat (Kaiya comes in with two stools. She avoids Dinaji's gaze. Her father looks at them both and shakes his head). Young man, have we met before?
DINAJI: Maybe in passing
QURAK: You like a good old friend of mine (he shakes his head). It can't be. You are Dinaji, the wise, I presume.
DINAJI: So they call me.
QURAK: So they call you or so you are
DINAJI: You are really wise, father. They call me the wise here but my people call me the wild tiger.
QURAK: That's a heavy title (pause)

KAIYA:(She brings out calabashes of food, she goes in and brings out a gourd of palm wine and palm wine horns. She leaves).
QURAK: Join me for the morning meal. My daughter is a good cook.
DINAJI: I would love to, but....
QURAK: No one refuses my daughter food in my own house.
DINAJI: I'VE got nothing to counter that.
(They eat).
