An Arranged Marriage - Episode 29

After the date on Sunday, Early Monday Morning..

Kane.

I watch as the man approaches the Limo, I feel sick at the thought that half an hour ago I had been with his daughter.

He knocks on he window and I don't exit, I just slide down the window.

"Well, what can I do for you Mr. King?" He asks, his greedy eyes eager, knowing fully well that money will be coming.

"I want you to convince your daughter to marry me" I say and he pauses.

"Well, I'm sorry Mr. King, you will just have to specify, I have 3 daughters, 4,if you count the dead one"

"Anadia, I want you to convince Anadia to marry me" I say and I clench my hands into fist when he smiles smugly.

"Well, Mr. King, that might prove to be a little hard, see,i once tried to do that and she.."

"How much?"I ask.

" A hundred grand "He says and I'm sick that  this man will do such a dirty thing for that kind of money.

" When do I get my results? "

" Now if you want "He says.

" Get in "I say and my driver standing a  ways away opens the door for him.

" Glad to be doing business with you Mr. King "He says.

" Shut the fuck up "I say and he mimics zipping his mouth.

My mind wanders and I think how I know this man will get the job done.

This was a last resort , to get her to marry me I had to pull in her father.

This monster.

As the car cruises down the street I make up my mind that I will stop all revenge against Anadia Razaq.

I'm going to marry her and make her mine, purely because I want to and not because I need anything from her, I need the box, I'm going to get the box but I'm going to stop all revenge.

Maybe one day in the future I will tell her how we came to meet, one day when I've successfully made her mine.

The car comes to a stop a few blocks from her home and the monster exits, as I watch him approach his house I begin to wonder how much of a difference we have.

I'm a monster too.

10 minutes later he saunters back and I see the cruel smile on his face.

He knocks on the window, it rolls down. 

"All done, my payment" He says and my driver hands him the cheque.

I roll my windshield back up and he looks surprised.

I read his lips asking if are just going to abandon him there but I don't reply, the car just moves.

Someday, one day in the future, he's going to get what is going to come for him.

Present.

Anadia.

I squeeze thr hand holding me so hard that in surprised the person doesn't yelp. 

"Easy babe, You are gonna hurt yourself" The voice says and I struggle to open my eyes. 

I follow that sound of the voice, my head tilting to listen more. 

I don't wanna wake up, it was pretty safe were I was a moment ago, maybe I will just go back, a little more time, a little more time. 

"Wake up girl" The voice says, I pout.

"Dont give me that lip babe, wake up" He says again and I open my eyes if only just to glare at him. 

"There she is, how do you feel?" He asks and he's sitting on a chair beside my bed side, he looks ruffled but alert. 

"I feel like horseshit" I admit. 

"My baby girl has such a way with words" He says and that's the right thing to say at the moment because I melt and I suddenly don't feel like horseshit anymore. 

"What are you doing here?" 

"Should I be offended that you are not happy to see me?" I ignore him

"Anaya would not have called you" 

"Aroofa did, and a good thing too" He says. 

"What happened?" He asks as if he's trying to swallow hot coals. 

I find my self leaning forward to brush his hair. 

"It was a little situation" I say, my voice drowning as I remember the reason I feel ill in the beginning. 

My body shudders. 

"Is there a reason you look like someone just walked over your grave?" 

"You are strangely talk active today" I say and he tilts his head. 

Oh, no. 

"Get up" He says, standing up himself. 

"What? why?" I splutter "I was just sick you know" 

"Babe" He says simply and I groan,

. Standing he takes my weight. 

"What now?" 

"I'm sorry you had to endure whatever you went through my love" He says and I can't reconcile this person standing in front of me with the man I met a week ago. 

"You are being sweet" I say. 

"You can't take sweet can't you? I plan to kill you with sweetness" He says and I freeze. 

"Oh Jesus, never again you say that" I say, cringing at the cheesines of his words. 

He chuckles, his hand tugging in my hair. 

"Go bath" 

"Is that your way of saying I stink?" 

"You stink babe, you've not had your bath today, it's past five" 

"You wicked man, I do not like you so much right now" I say, limping away from him. 

"Ani?" He calls and I turn to look at him. 

He looks strangely intense, I brace myself for whatever is going to come. 

"Yes Kane?" 

"Marry me" He says and I freeze but I nod. 

"Let's do it" I say and he nods. 

I leave him and enter the bathroom closing the door and leaning against it, my heart thumping. 

I will have to explain, explain to him that I need him to be married to me if I am to get the box my mama left me. 

But for now, for now let me bath and revel in the fact that I am someone's fiancée.
