Beautiful Mask - Episode 20

Caroline:

"Call the doctor! No no no!" i grip kelvin's right arm with all my

strength, my nails digging in. I want to atleast draw blood from this

devil. I am positive that this has everything to do with the bastard

in front of me. Stupid stupid me.

"Caroline, you have to let go so i can get the doctor" kelvin says, his

face twisted in pain. I let go but only to grab his longish hair and

pull on it.

"It hurts!" i scream in his face. A doctor and two nurses rush in and

they try to pry my hands off kelvin's hair. I give it one more tug

before i let go. I am carted to another room and thankfully, they

don't let kelvin in. One of the nurses roll in a weird lookin machine.

I am asked to take my gown off and I do so without complaint. When the

doctor takes off my bloody panties and try to pry my legs open i cant

help but clamp my legs shut.

"we suspect miscarriage and we have to use this to be sure. its too

early in your pregnancy to see with the typical ultra sound machine so

we have to insert this inside you. You have to release your legs

okay?" the doctor says and i reluctantly open them.

still cant process this. Kelvin hasn't visited since the doctor kept

him out of my room. He sent a message telling me something came up at

work. I am thankful that he isn't here right now or i would possibly

be locked up for committing murder. I asked a nurse earlier about the

pills this morning and she said they didn't give me any pills this

morning. That just confirms it. Kelvin is responsible for my

miscarriage. The doctor isn't even sure if i was ever pregnant.

Just thinking about everything i have gone through since i met kelvin

is making me boil with immense anger. The near rape, losing Simon and

probably our baby. This has to stop. Kelvin has to be stopped. The

person i want to talk to the most right now is Beatrice. I better

leave right now before kelvin gets back. I quickly slip out of the

hospital gown and put my clothes on. I still have mild cramps but i

can manage walking out of the hospital and getting a taxi. All the way

to the hospital where i saw Beatrice, i look out the window to make

sure that i am not being followed. After paying the taxi, i walk

nimbly into the hospital. I quickly find my way to the private rooms.

I spot beatrice's name on the second door when i hear a familiar male

voice inside.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of your dumb twin sister while you are in

this state. Come to think of it, i like this plan better. Simon

getting betrayed by the love of his life. Just brilliant. I should

just cut you off these machines right now but i may need you to keep

Caroline in line. Speaking of Caroline, "there is silence for a while

and peek through the keyhole. Kelvin is typing something on his phone.

My phone starts ringing in my hand and i see him turn toward the door.

I freeze for just a second before my brain kick start and i quickly

push the next room's door open and slip inside. I close the door

quickly behind me as my heart beat accelerates and it takes alot to

not pee in my pant. I hear beatrice's door open then close and i press

my hand to my mouth before my sob alert him to my presence. Few

seconds later i hear footsteps walking away. I spy through the keyhole

and see kelvin walk pass. I let out the breathe i didn't realise i was

holding until now. That was close. I count to twenty then i turn the

handle of the door to leave but i freeze yet again when i hear a manly

groan. I turn back slowly and come face to face with no other person

but khalifa. The bastard who almost raped me. What is he doing here?.

The huge bandage around his head kindof answer that question but how

is he alive? In a room beside beatrice's.

"khalifa?" i say but he just look at me dumbly.

"who are you?" he asks and i scoff at his feeble attempt to act like he

doesn't know me. The anger festering in me for weeks now flare.

"maybe this will remind you" i say and attack him with my teeth. He

screams but i don't let go until a nurse rushes in.

"get this crazy woman away from me, please" he begs. The nurse tries to

free him but i just grab her hair instead. I think i am going crazy

with anger but i cant stop now. With my teeth clamped to khalifa's

disgusting arm, i use my right hand to pull on the nurse's hair. It is

total chaos in here that even the door opening does not stop me.

"Caroline! Stop it"my head whip up towards the door thereby freeing

khalifa's arm and i see Beatrice standing by the door.

"Let go of the nurse, Caroline" she command like am a little child. I

reluctantly let go and the nurse falls to the ground while holding her

head.

"Who made you the boss over me?" i ask.

"Nature. I am the older twin afterall" she says and smile at me. I cant

help it though, i lose control of my emotions and burst out in tears.

Beatrice is enveloping me in a hug in seconds and i cry on her

shoulder.

"its okay sweetheart." she coo while she rub my back. After crying my

eyes out, i finally pull out of our embrace.

"Just because i don't remember doesnt mean you can deceive me about

being the senior" i pout and she smile.

"I take it, your being here means you believe me"she says and i nod.

"Okay lets go to my room" she says.

"But what about that bastard?" i ask

"I'll explain everything. Come on"she pull me away to her room and i

nod an apologetic to the innocent nurse i just attacked.

I ponder everything Beatrice told me awhile ago. Seems like i have to

pretend to work with kelvin until khalifa regains his stupid memory so

he can testify in court against kelvin. Beatrice's private

investigator found him almost dead behind his(khalifa's) house when he

went there to get evidence that would exonerate Simon of murder.

According to Beatrice, he has been there for days without anybody

finding him. We are lucky we got to him first and once he gets his

memory back, we can confirm how he got to be lying almost dead behind

his house.

'Simon, just wait. I'll get you out of this mess my sister created'

Time to get our Plan underway. I bring my phone out of my pocket and

dial kelvin.

"Oh my God Caroline, where are you?. I have been so worried. Why

haven't you been picking your call?" he asks his voice seeming like he

really cares. He can't fool me anymore though. I inhale a deep breathe

then switch my actress mode on.

"Am sorry kelvin. The pain was just too much. I just went out to

think." I burst into fake tears.

"I can't believe I fell for his lies.

. I loved him and what did he do?

He tried to kill my sister and I. He succeeded in taking my baby away

from me. He must pay. Even if its the last thing I do."I sob out.

"I promise to help you get justice for your family and For your baby" he says

"Thank you so much kelvin."

"Its the least I can do. So are you ready for this? Dont you need a

few days to at least mourn your child?"

"No. I am ready. When do I leave to get my scar removed?" I ask

"If you are sure that you are okay, we can leave tomorrow afternoon"

"What bout passport and tickets?" I ask

"I'll take care of it"

"Thank you again" I say.

"Its fine. I am so sorry for your loss Caroline" he says and it takes

everything in me not to scream liar.

"Gotta go. Meet me at osubi airport tomorrow by 10 okay?"

"OK" I say and the line goes dead.

It was Beatrice idea that I agree to go abroad with kelvin to get my

scar removed. It would give khalifa time to regain his memory and I

would be able to get rid of my scar. Well, let's see how this plays

out
