Brothers - Episode 17

"How did it go bro.." Chris asked immediately he got into his apartment, he had been staying there in his absence, Raymond didn't want to even imagine all he had done with the place during the period he left

"Disaster bro.." he said and dropping his bag went to pour himself a glass of vodka, he gulped it once and kept the glass in a thud, Chris walked to meet him

"What do you mean..where's Jess?"Chris asked and glanced at the door

"She's gone...for good" he poured himself another glass, raised it and gulped, Chris stared at him incredulously

"What happened?"

"Everything went downhill from the moment we got to the place"he began

"Heard it was a forest" Chris said interested, the friends had been anticipating the arrival of the couple with gist about their adventure but it wasn't looking like Raymond was excited to tell it"..and you came quite early"Chris observed

"Don't question me man, I'm in no mood" Raymond said angrilly as he took his bag and went inside 

"What do you mean you're in no mood, what happened?"Chris asked again wonderingly

Sandra was waiting for Isabel in her apartment, Isabel had called her from the airport in tears and she knew she had to go to the apartment immediately

"What happened Is..?" she asked glancing at Isabel's finger"did he propose and you got overwhelmed "that had been her anticipation

"Wish that was it...."Isabel replied

"What then happened?" 

Isabel sat on the cushion and held her face"I'm in so much pain Sandra, I just hope he can forgive me"

Sandra was confused"Who?..what did you do Is?" there was silence then Sandra suddenly figured it out, she closed her mouth with her hands"omg, don't tell me something happened between you and Raymond.. "Isabel looked at her" ...Is how did that even happen?"she asked sitting down beside her, they had been close, too close and she suspected something would happen between them someday...

"I don't know, it just did"Isabel shrugged

"what the hell were you thinking, how could you be so stupid Is...?"

Isabel cried more"Richard proposed and I couldn't even say yes to him, after three years"

Sandra pursed her lips".where is he now"

"I don't know, he's not been taking my calls"

"What about Jessica?"

"She called me a whore as I rightly deserve..and hoped I perish with my guilt." Sandra took her in her arms as she stared into space wondering how they were going to fix the mess her friend had created...

Isabel took her spare key and got into Richard's apartment, he wasn't there yet, made her wonder where he was, she hadn't seen him since that night and she was scared, she wanted to come see if she could beg him and at the same time get the rest of her stuff, she knew what she had done was unforgivable and had resigned herself to them breaking up, she didn't know how she was going to face the mother though...and Jemima...

The door opened and closed downstairs as she sorted out her clothes, she turned and waited till he sauntered in, saw her and then walked in in silence...

"Where have you been Rich, I've been calling you but you've not been taking my calls"

He just stared at her wordlessly

She sighed "I know you're angry and have every right to be but can we please talk.." She reached to touch him but he flinched away.."when are you going to stop this, are you giving me the silent treatment, I'm already feeling so ashamed of myself Rich, why worsen the guilt" a tear fell

He moved away from her"you are despicable, I can't even look at you, my brother.

. What, is he better than me in bed" he sat on the bed waiting for her answer

"That's not it Rich, you pushed me to him by your constant cheating..I thought he was solace." She paused".I thought I was in love with him but now I regret every little bit of it"

"You do? no I don't think so, if given the chance you'd do it again, I'm sure you enjoyed doing it behind my back, the game, treating me the exact way I treated you, wanting me to feel how you felt, even now this is even worse, this was with my brother"

"Richard.." She knelt in front of him "I'm so sorry, I know you're hurting and can't take me back but do please forgive me".

"Of course I have forgiven you..I did it to you too and you forgave severally, so I forgive you"he said in dismissal though his eyes spoke volumes as she searched his gaze...

She didn't know if he was being sincere,  but he stood up and undressed while she stared at him, she finished packing in silence , then he turned

"Where you going?"he asked

"I..thought I should get my things"

He stared at her "you're not leaving me are you?"

What..."I ..I thought... "she thought they were over...

"Isabel just..." he paused "don't go..just stay.." he said, she gaped at him, he came and took her bag and kept it back in the wardrobe...then he left the room.

*what is Richard up to? has he really forgiven her?
