Finding Solace - Episode 31

NARRATOR’S POV

When Fiona opened her eyes, she smiled as she saw Nick sitting beside her. His forehead was bandaged all round and his left arm was in a sling. His other cheek was swollen and there were scars on his lower lip.

“You look so terrible Nick.” Fiona chuckled.

“I know. I will take that as a compliment.” Nick replied.

The nurse walked in.

“How are you doing Catherine?” She asked as she came to stand beside her bed.

“I feel …so light.” She replied while the nurse scribbled in her notepad.

“Any more headache, flashes, body pain?”

“No. I feel so good actually.” She replied.

“Okay then, I will be right back.” Said the nurse, smiled at Nick and then left.

“I think the nurse likes you.” She started, teasing Nick who ignored her.

“No one will like me in this state. I look like I just escaped death narrowly.” Nick replied with a laughter.

Then they both went silent and were only smiling and looking at each other.

“This has been so crazy.” Nick said, finally breaking the silence and moving closer to her bed. He put a hand on her cheek.

. We are survivors.” Fiona replied, looking and smiling at him before he lowered his head to kiss her.

Just as his lips were few inches from her, she pulled back.

“What about Yvonne?”

Nick smiled and instead, kissed her  chin.

“She won’t be a problem  anymore.”

“What do you mean?” Fiona asked curiously.

“I told her about everything that happened, she told me to stay away from her.”

Fiona looked at him, confused.

“Stay away how?”

Nick, smiled.”She said I was a crazy son of a bitch and she broke up with me. She also said she wished to never see me again and that we could both rot in hell.”

Both of them were silent and then immediately burst into laughter.

“Oh my God! Are you serious.” Fiona replied, laughing while Nick laughed more.

“I swear, I do not blame her at all. If anybody tells me anything like that, I would think they are probably mad.  So, where is she?”

“She has been discharged, I believe she is at my place packing her stuff right now, she said she would leave the key with the cook. “

“Wow. Okay, you can kiss me now.”

Nick smiled and finally kissed her.

The kiss was just as he had wanted. As his lips brushed hers, a wave of pure pleasure surged through his entire body. She could feel him as he leaned closer to her. Her head was spinning and she carefully placed a hand behind his head, part of which was not plastered. The kiss was becoming urgent and harder but Nick stopped.

“Why don’t we save this till we get home.” He breathed into her ear and she nodded with a smile.

“I love you Fiona, so much.”

“I love you too Nick.”

He kissed her ear lobe before pulling away finally.

“When we get home, I think we should go on a proper date. What do you think?”

She smiled. “We can do that but first, there is something else I need to do.”

“What is that?” He asked curiously.

“I need to bury my parents. I want to go home and give them all a proper burial. Besides, you can get to see where I grew up.”

Nick smiled , squeezing her hand.
