Forever, Mitchell - Episode 14

Against my will... It's an illusion of the mind... You are always free.

A tap on my leg brings me awake, I immediately fly off the bed onto the rug, holding my body still.

Don't blame me, I was drugged, there's only so much a girl can take at a time.

"The boss wants you to come downstairs" One of the cronies said and I recognize him to be the driver of the car we were in. 

I look around the room and I know immediately that I'm in Knoxville, but just not anywhere near the main house. 

I walk down the stairs, shivering, I'm so cold, it's not my body, it's my heart, I'm so scared. 

I turn the corner to see Xavier sitting on a couch, legs crossed, perusing a newspaper. 

He looks so mundane, anyone looking from the outside might think he's normal, but I know he's not. 

He's just a silent killer. 

"You are awake" He says, not even lifting his head, beating testament that even if his body looks relaxed, he's anything but. 

"You drugged me" I say, the accusation flying out of my mouth. 

"I did" He admits. 

I don't know why his admittance managed to shock me, the man has a reputation of being an underworld king, what did I expect? 

"Sit" He commands and I do, simply because I'm too weak to do anything else. 

He folds the newspaper and dumps it on a coffee table, he leans back, folding his hands and settling into the couch. 

"What are you?" He asks the degrading question calmly, it makes me feel something, something I can't place my hand on. 

"I'm Mitchell" I say in a small voice. 

"I'm aware, what I want to know exactly is who are you to cause so much commotion in so little time?" He asks and I know I'm liable to having  my head blown, but that doesn't make me not feel that awful thing from earlier. 

"You started working for me and in so little time you had all my siblings wrapped around your fingers, what are you? Really?" He asks again, leaning forward, it's obvious his earlier disposition of relaxation was a hoax

"I..." 

"Tyler made a foolish decision last night, proclaiming you his, now you are a target to all people who has a score to settle with me" He says and I swallow, coming to a realization. 

"Those men in the lobby of the hospital... They weren't yours?" I ask, although I know the answer, Xavier is too advanced to use that form of threat. 

"Wallace's men, you were lucky to get out alive" 

He says and I scoff. 

"He didn't get you so he must be going for the next best thing" He says, as calm as can be. 

"The next best thing?" 

"It definitely won't be your aunt, she's as good as dead already, who do you think it would be?" 

I rack my brain, Wallace isn't foolish enough to go after any of the Knox's, he knows he wouldn't win. 

I'm out of his reach right now so the next person would be....

. Gina... " I breath in a whisper. 

He doesn't say a word, just eyes me evenly. 

My panic grows. 

"I have to go, I have to go! You have to let me out of here " I say, reaching for the exit. 

"Sit back down"

"Why? Why did you bring me here?... Gina..." 

"Tyler asked for your protection, you being alive or dead matters little to me" 

"Then you have to let me go" I say, walking in circles in a bid for him to set me free. 

I know walking towards those doors without his permission will be foolhardy, I know, I just need his word. 

He goes back to his paper and my heart falls at his cruelty, he really does not care about me or mine.

Gina can't die... She can't die because I was stupid enough to love a Knox. 

Oh God. 

His phone rings and that jolts me, I turn to it, like a life line. 

"Tyler... What?" He asks, his voice expressing mild irritation at the person on the other end. 

His eyes comes to me and the anger in them makes me shrink back. 

"Get here.. Fast" He says disconnecting. 

"You don't have to worry, my fool brother saved your cousin from Wallace's men" he says and I take a deep breath. 

"No, don't look relieved, He's made a move that can be considered an act of war, He's the one now in danger, not you, not your half dead cousin, my brother, if one thing happens to a hair on his head you will burn in eternal flames" He says, standing up to exit the room. 

I begin to follow, I have to see Gina. 

"Do not let her leave this house" He says to no one in particular but from know there are people behind the door, accepting his commands. 

I begin to shake as he passes through the door and I know, I just know my life is about to change forever.
