Fulfilling Wishes - Episode 28

The four of them got to Abuja that very night and they entered the hospital at some minutes to midnight.

When Adams saw them, he gasped and walked towards them. He realized they had both cried their hearts out as their faces were swollen and read.

Ruthie saw Adams and her heart shattered again, she began to cry harder so Adams quickly came to gather her in his arms. She clung to him as she cried.

“This was all my fault Adams, you told me not to go, I should have listened to you. I am so sorry.”

Adams patted her on the back, “stop punishing yourself, everything will be fine.”

“Where is he Adams?” Andy asked.

“He is in the room.” Adams replied, still consoling Ruthie.

Andy walked down the passageway and opened the door slowly. His father lay on the bed, his face was still visible but his entire body was covered with a white blanket.

He sobbed and knelt beside him, taking his hand in his.

“My father, dad, I am so sorry. I should have been more gentle with you. Maybe all this would not have happened. I understand that you were trying to protect me and that everything was not your fault. I wish I had stayed behind, I wish I had come when you asked to see me

. I am so sorry dad. I have been so angry and so frustrated and I let it take over me. Forgive me dad.” He sobbed more and the door opened again, Ruthie came in.

She found Andy kneeling beside him and sobbing, she couldn’t contain her tears as well, she went to sit beside him, there was a weak smile on her lips.

“Michael, you were the only man that I have ever loved after Pablo, you were such a jerkass and I hate you even more for dying when we never had the chance to reconcile. But I forgive you because I love you so much. I forgive you for everything and I hope that you find peace where you have gone to.” She said and leaned closer to kiss him on the cheek...and just as she was returning to her former position...

“How about a kiss on the lip.”

Both Ruthie and Andy jumped as the supposed-dead man spoke. They were both on their legs now, staring at Michael whose eyes were now opened and who was smiling at them.

While they were unsure of what was happening, Adams and the doctor came in.

“What the hell is going on?” Andy demanded.

“What is going on my son is that I never died.” Michael replied, rising to a sitting position.

Ruthie could not utter a word, she was terrified and angry at the same time.

“So....you tricked us?” Andy asked angrily.

“Well, we tricked you into coming here and it worked.” Adams replied.

“You know I could sue your ass right?” Andy threatened the doctor.

“But consider the fact that your father is alive and healthy.” The doctor pointed out.

Andy calmed down and faced his father....”Why did you do that? You scared the hell out of us!”

“I want to know if you still care about me. I am so sorry son.” Michael explained and apologized, “I know I messed up but I wanted you to come, I needed you to forgive me.”

“Well, it worked dad and you have no idea how much relived I am that you are alive.” He said before embracing his father.

After some minutes, they pulled away and the men left the room as if they had been given a signal, it remained just Michael and Ruthie who was still not talking.

He stood up from his bed and approached her, but her back was turned towards him.

“You are my life,my everything. I love you and I trust you completely. You were right, I have been nothing but a big coward and I am sorry for everything that I put you through. You are my anchor, my pillar. You have kept me going all this while and you left in a single day and things shattered.

Ruthie turned around. “Don’t ever try what you just did ever again in your life”

Michael nodded, “Yes, I will never do that again.”

“And don’t you ever try to die on me!”

He smiled, “Okay. So do you forgive me?”

Ruthie smiled and nodded, “yes I do.”
Before they embraced, Michael went on his knees, “Marry me Ruthie, I want to spend the rest of my life with you. You are the only woman that I can trust with my life and I want to keep you by my side forever and ever.”

Ruthie chuckled and nodded, “Yes, yes, I will marry you.”

He slid the ring into her finger and they finally had their first kiss.

“So,  I guess we will be planning two weddings now.”Reeva said as she sat beside her Fiancée. They were back in L.A and they were just leaving the wedding planner’s office.

“Well, I don’t know but they will do theirs and we will do ours. So what’s the plan?”

Reeva brought out her phone and showed him a picture.

“So I saw this house yesterday, it is close to your office and it is really beautiful.”

“You want us to buy it and move in after the wedding?”

“No, I want us to move in and plan the wedding together in it.”

Andy looked surprised and packed the car by the side of the road. “Are you saying you want us to move in together?”

Reeva nodded and he covered her lips with his.

“I am sorry I doubted you, I don’t want us to rush anything.” Reeva said, “I know you are doing this because of me but once we are in together, we can take a time to work on the wedding together.”

“Your home is my home Reeva, I love you.”

“I love you too.”
