Happy Never After - Episode 24

Hannah stared at her.

“She is here?”

Alicia waited, she wasn’t sure. They both listened as her heart sank when she discovered she was right. David was talking with someone in the house.

“Hold on let me find her for you…” he said loud enough for them to hear.

“This house is beautiful!” Alicia could hear her sister say. “No wonder she doesn’t want to come back home again.”

Alicia turned to Hannah and signaled to her to go.

“I can’t leave you here,” said Hannah.

“You have to leave quickly, I will distract him so that you can get to my sister quickly and both of you can get help. Please just go.”

Hannah nodded and was on her way.

“Hey honey, your sister is here,” came David’s voice.

“Do not hurt my sister, David. She is not part of your plan.”

“Well, she is now,” he laughed wickedly.
Now, come out.”

“I will come out but first, once I come out, what are you going to do?” Alicia asked, trying to take much of his time so that Hannah could escape and get to her sister on time.

“Well, since you are asking, I will kill you both.”

“Why are you doing this, David? Why can’t you just let us go?”

He laughed. “Sorry, doll

. I can’t just let you go. If I could kill my own brother, don’t you think you are not safe at all. Now, open this door, before I change my mind.”

“What about Lucas? How did you do it?” she demanded, looking for a weapon. Then she remembered the two knives she had kept in her pockets.  She took out one and placed it on the ground, standing on it so that it would be hidden from David. She left the remaining in her back pocket she couldn’t risk him knowing she’s got those with her.

“Well, he recognized me. That bastard. I had to go back and kill him. Now, he should be dead. I made it look like an accident. So simple. Now, open the bloody door!”

Alicia went to the door, with shaking hands, she unbolted it and then stepped back.

For the first time, she could finally see him for who he truly was. He was no longer the Daniel she had thought. He was a killer, a monster. He smiled and walked in.

“Now, now, you see how easy that was. Where is Hannah?” he asked, bringing out a gun. He looked confused as he stared at the seat where Hannah was once tied. Then he saw the empty space at the back of the room. Alicia could see that realization was beginning to dawn on him.

“That whore!” he shouted, turning his back slightly to walk towards the back, quickly, Alicia brought out her knife and charged at him.

David was too quick for her; he caught her at the same time and twisted her wrist, causing her to cry in pain. She could feel her wrist breaking as he twisted her hand and the knife dropped.

“You idiot!” he said, slapping her as she fell to the ground.

“You really think you can….”

Without wasting time, Alicia took out the second knife which was on the ground and stabbed him somewhere around his feet.

David cried out.

“You bitch! I will kill you!”

Alicia managed to stand up as David struggled to remove the knife. Quickly, she bolted the door and staggered out of the room….

“Lydia! Lydia!” she shouted almost out of her breath but her sister was not in the living room. Panic seized her. All of a sudden, she heard the movement of a car outside and she inhaled as she saw Lydia in the car with Hannah.

“Oh my god! Licia! Are you okay?” Lydia shouted on seeing her.

“Just drive,” Alicia said quickly, running towards them as Hannah opened the door.

When they got to the gate, it was automated to open by itself but this time, it didn’t.

“What is happening?” demanded Lydia breathing in and out.

Alicia rushed to the gate and checked. She realized it was locked. There was no way they were getting out of here.

“oh my god! It is locked isn’t it?” Lydia cried.

Alicia nodded just in time to see David coming out with a gun, he was limping.

“You really think you are so smart, don’t you?” he asked, laughing and pointing the gun at them. A shot rang out and they all ducked but David only laughed.

“I have four bullets in here. It is more than enough for each of you…”

Alicia looked at Lydia and signaled to her. Quickly, her sister moved to the other seat and opened the door for Alicia who rushed in and shut it behind her.

“What are we going to do?” Lydia asked.

“You just have to trust me,” Alicia said, turning the car around to face David who was still pointing the gun at them.

“What are you doing, sis?”

“Just trust me and get down!” Alicia shouted, hitting the pedals as the car  jerked forward she accelerated, ignoring the bullets that flew through the glass, breaking it into pieces, and entering into her left shoulder. She didn’t stop but was counting each bullet as David shot at them. He had only shot the third when the car hit him , knocking him over.

Alicia pulled the brakes and then halted.

. He was attempting to stand up but Alicia reversed so fast that she knocked him over the second time.

“Oh, my god! Is he dead?” Lydia whispered.

Alicia couldn’t tell, she turned the car around and they could see his body on the ground. He wasn’t dead but he was badly injured. Blood was coming out of every part of him.

The door opened, Hannah walked out and picked the gun that was lying beside him. Then without thinking, she shot the last at him.

Finally, he was dead. Then she checked his pocket and brought out the keys. She managed to walk to the gate and unlocked the gate.

Finally, they were out. Lydia rested her head on Alicia’s shoulder and then covered her hand which was on the wheel with hers.

Alicia never realized how badly her hands were shaking.

“You are alright,” said her sister to her. “You are alright….”
