Myopic - Episode 4
Rushing to the kitchen after almost dumping her bag and her baby on the sofa she was surprised to see the stranger she was eager to meet was no other person than Bisi her childhood friend turned sister. Though she hadn't been a fan of moving in clique of friends but this pretty young woman in her kitchen wasn't just any friend to her they had been friends since her days in elementary school where they became so attached to each other Bisi who coincidentally also happened to be an only child saw remi like the twin sister she never had, they do all things together and where almost inseparable they shared the type of bond that extended to both their families, bringing their parents together as friends despite the society class difference so when Bisi who was from a not too comfortable home lost both parents in a very drastic accident leaving her to the mercy of an extended family who weren't willing to raise a child that wasn't theirs "it would be an extra mouth to feed and cater for" each of them had complained. Which left remi's parent with no other choice than to step into the situation to assist the little girl back then, a decision remi had always thought was the best her parents had ever made because Bisi had never given them a reason to complain rather she had filled their life with joy by becoming the other child they never had but all that doesn't seem to matter to remi at that very moment the rage in her had really formed a blanket over her senses, blame it on the conversation she just had with lara because from now on she is leaving no stones unturned "why are you here?" "who asked you to come?" and the question went on an on as remilekun kept on asking question without waiting for a single answer "madam are you done" was the first reply bisi gave "debo called me here" "he said it was urgent i was in church when he called had to rush down here" she continued, explaining how weak debo sounded when he called her up. Remi, filled with rage questioned again "and why didn't you call me up to tell me all that story over the phone before coming in here to cook for him" "why?" bisi who is now getting confused as to why her friend was questioning her simply took her time to explain to her friend rather than getting angry she explained how herself and remi's mom had tried reaching her when her husband called in earlier and because her parent had a very important function to attend after the church service remi's mom had begged her before the service ended to go over to her daughter's house to check if all was fine since she wouldn't be chanced to do so

. "and on getting here to your house i met him in the living room laying on the floor looking almost lifeless like there was no ounce of strength left in him then i moved closer to check if he was fine that was when he told me he had been purging all through the night and needed something to eat to gain strength so i decided to hurry to the kitchen to make him a meal" "and also this isn't the first time am cooking in your kitchen so why all this drama" bisi blurted out . Well maybe bisi is right maybe she's just being dramatic it wasn't really the first time bisi would be cooking in her kitchen in fact her first few months of marriage she had insisted on having bisi visit often so she can have a taste of her different delicacies she is a well known professional caterer with a whole lot of clientele also the best caterer remi had come to know and the only one she can trust enough to cook her meals exactly the way she prefers it, the more reason she had refused to employ a cook as her mother once suggested remi just can't stand another woman cooking in her home but with bisi there had always been an exception.
" am i really loosing my mind or what, bisi is like my very own sister she wouldn't try having an affair with my husband" remi thought to herself as she stood staring into thin air while putting her hand on her waist in akimbo. "remi is everything ok" bisi asked looking straight into her friend's eyes as if trying to search her soul for answers "talk to me please" bisi urged removing remi's hands from her waist and holding them in hers "debo is cheating bisi my husband is having an affair" "i really saw that coming and tried warning you didn't i?" bisi said with pity in her eyes "was that reason you left him helpless at home and left for church that was very risky" "and how come he is purging and you aren't, after eating the same meal you prepared for dinner because when i asked him he said you both had dinner together" once again bisi looked at her friend waiting for an answer "you want to know the truth right, i laced his food with laxatives six doses to be precise" " you did what?" bisi replied with a shock on her face " how could you?" "remi you are a sister i never had why are you keeping this to yourself when you could have confided in me and avoided the urge to murder your husband" "isn't that the reason we have a counsellor" said remi while smiling in between tears "oh yes and she advised you to kill him right? "so much for counselling you better stop wasting your money every month" bisi said with a smirk on her face " remi you should stop wasting your time listening to someone teaching you the oyinbo way of life" "this is Africa ooo babe shine your eyes" "and you think am not, why do you think i was filled with rage earlier" remi said to her friend with arms folded around her waist " it was because after speaking to the counsellor she told me not to trust anybody and avoid over looking any situation then coincidentally i got home only to find a strange car parked in the garage and you in my kitchen haven cooked for my husband" remi said with brows raised high "wait a minute" bisi blurted out angrily "what are you trying to say here, first the strange car you claim to have seen was an early birthday gift from dad for handling the catering service of one of his client to his satisfaction, was planning to come show you later next week. " and as for cooking in your kitchen we both know the amount of times i have cooked in this kitchen is way above keeping records but its fine" she was about leaving the kitchen when she turned back to remi who hadn't moved an inch from where she stood as if glued to the ground " and also Mrs remilekun martins consider this the last time you see me in your matrimonial home" leaving the kitchen to the living room with tears in her eyes bisi started arranging her things back into her hand bag in order to leave the house as fast as she could when she felt remi hugging her from behind. That's really her friend's style of saying sorry, hugging without words, but this time she didn't just hug she actually did speak "am sorry" she said, "i was such a fool for doubting you".
