Phoenix Reborn - Episode 26

Her phone rings once the driver drops her off. She can see her family having a picnic but they are yet to spot her. She picks up the call, "Yes, Hello."
"Your presence is required at the palace. A jet is already waiting for you at the airport. Get on and everyone else will handle their part."
"Dad! Is this you?"
"No, it's your old uncle Kassym. Unfortunately, it's time to act my dear. This is the appropriate time to act. I've been following you and know this may not be the best time as your children are still very young. But we've all made sacrifices. See you soon my daughter."
He hangs up but the phone stays by her ear for a while. She's always known this day would come, she just didn't expect it to hurt this much. Tear slip from her eyes as she walks towards them, she needs to say goodbye. She calls for an Uber before reaching them.
"Hey sweeties. How's your day so far?" She asks after wiping away her tears.
"Cool. You okay?" Max asks her, a concerned look on his face.
"Yeah mom. Did anything happen with those people at the house?"
"Oh. Don't mind them, it's just that I really hoped to get the whole day to spend with you guys. A little more time at least but unfortunately I need to get to work

. It's an emergency and it's making me a little sad."
"Then stay. Isn't that the whole point of being your own boss?"
"It's not that simple sweetheart. But whatever happens, just remember, I'm always watching your backs and I'll be back in time."
"What does that mean?"
"Nothing," she gets a message informing her her ride has arrived. She smiles, "You are the most important achievement I've made in my life. I'll be back for you. Promise."
She gets up, kisses them and gives them a long tight hug each, "I love you Alex," she whispers in his ears then leaves.
"Mom!" Panic stricken kids shout after her. For some reason, they felt this was not one of their mom's work leaves. When they were certain she would return.
She ignores them and gets into the car. Alex is equally confused with her words. It felt like goodbye. But he tries to conceal his emotions and reassure the kids. He'll have to get to the bottom of this later, when the kids were more calm.
At the airstrip, two planes are preparing for take off. She gets into the one she's been directed to by members of the clan. This was going to be a long, hard sojourn. Luckily, a part of her was accompanying her. Her old long time friend and shadow, Leila.
"I wish I could leave you to watch over my kids. Their is no one I trust more with them."
"Don't worry, I handpicked the custodians and guards from the veil of the DemonFlesh. They're as safe as if I or you would be watching over them ourselves. You're the one who needs someone to have your back."
"Thank you sis."
"Any day, Anytime, Anyplace."
Olivia smiles and Leila smiles back.
That night, he'd been trying to get a hold of her for hours but still nothing. He'd come home to meet the Abayomi family at the gates, further enquiries made him know Olivia's orders, but they still didn't leave. Her personal secretary had informed him she was not aware of any meetings in any of her companies, which was strange because she knew everything about her.
Just as her was about to give up, he hears Dee screaming as if in pain and rushes to her, his, "What is it sweetheart?" Dies on his lips as soon as he sees what she's watching.
BREAKING NEWS!!! BILLIONAIRE TYCOON OLIVIA MICHAELS' PLANE EXPLODES IN FLIGHT. THERE ARE NO SURVIVORS. FIVE BODIES HAVE BEEN FOUND BURNT BEYOND RECOGNITION.
"No!!!" He screams. This can't be happening, not now. Outside the compound, Connor Abayomi has also received the news. He thought he'd have time to make it up to her, but now she's gone. He cries silently to himself, this is all his fault. Everyone else is silent, this was not how they'd pictured the day coming to an end.
A couple of weeks later, a mass funeral is conducted in the memory of the Late Olivia. Everyone who is anyone attends.

. It was during this time that Connor takes advantage and reveals he's Olivia's father despite knowing full well it is against her wishes. A lot of people are shocked by the revelation and by the family's ties to the mogul. They however sympathies with the family, especially after Connor confesses to how he abandoned her and how he was hoping to make amends while they reconnected. A few days later, a lawyer reads out her will at her main residence. She's left everything in her kids' names with custodians over different companies until the twins turn eighteen, no surprise, much to the distaste of several people at the reading. Alex reads into the hostility and for the safety of his children, sends them to boarding school in Switzerland. They were his last connection to Olivia and he would rather they were away and safe than with him and in constant danger.
Several miles away, a masked figure is being crowned as the DemonFlesh clan queen. She'd spent the past couple of weeks watching news of her death and eventually her funeral. She wasn't happy and if ever there was a time to fear Haditya Idrisi, it was now, and those around her revered her. This was the beginning of a new dawn.
