MIGUEL

"Wake up Love, we are home"

I opened my eyes as I heard Miguel's voice. We must have traveled for hours for it was now a bit  dark but the carriage was no longer moving. I could tell we were in front of the palace.

Trees surrounded the castle like great armies defending their citadel. It was beautiful in the dark and , serene and majestic. It may have signified protection and home to many but to enemies, it was bound to make the bravest quail.

This was my first time of seeing something like this in real life except for inside movies..the castle was so difficult o describe. It is massive, huge, large..not like a sky-scraper or other modern building, but big like a mountain..something like that. It was also built on different levels. It was magnificent.

He got down and held my hand as I climbed down from the horse.  SOme maids rushed to our side to help with the bags. Just then I sighted Bree who looked so excited as she saw me.

"My lady! " SHe cried as she came running into my outstretched arms.

"I missed you so much Bree" I said, kissing her on the cheek.

"DID it work?" She whispered into my ear.

"Yes it did. More than you would have expected" I whispered back and I heard her chuckled,

Miguel was talking to his guards and hugging some of them.

"Come Love" He said to me, stretching his hand, I quickly winked at Bree who couldn't stop grinning

. I took Miguel's hand as we walked together towards the castle.

Entering the main arched gateway, we passed under a cavernous archway whose oaken doors swung open and closed ominously behind us with the clanging of heavy iron bars in true medieval fashion,reminding me of those historical movies..we were in the open courtyard about forty-five yard square with some grass lawns, flower beds surrounded on all four sides with building six stories high. I had no idea where the light came from, but everywhere was so bright that it was difficult to tell it was dark outside.

Some men were sitted at a table, wining and dining . Musicians were playing  and as they sighted us, majority of them stood up, laughing and clapping as they welcomed their prince who let go of my hand and went to embrace them one after the other.

. I heard him use the word "Uncle or sir..." as he greeted them.

I watched in interest as I stayed with Bree and some maids.

"What about Ngozi/" I asked her

"She is helping with the food" SHe replied.

"Who are those men?" I asked.

"They are the kings brothers and his advisers, most of them are the king makers" She replied.

"But where is the king?" I asked.

Breelooked around for a while before she stopped and said ="There he is."

He was tall and hefty..his hair was powder-white,. he had a silver bracelet around his head, the pendant shining in the middle of his fore head. He was built, the body of a man who had fought thousands of war. His stature commanded respect and his movement displayed majesty.

He was covered in a silky robe which swept the floor as he walked with power. He looked strong even in his old age.

Two guards were behind him as he walked towards the courtyard..his eyes shone in the light and everyone composed themselves as he approached ..even I held my breath at the sight of him...he looked strangely familiar.

"Father!" Miguel said, formally,standing firm and waiting for his father's reaction.

The King walked up to him, face expressionless. They stared at each other for a while..every where was quiet..even the music stopped.

"My son!" He finally said with a smile and embraced Miguel who I noticed finally breathed and then hugged his father back.

I heaved a sigh of relief as the music continued and everyone went back to how they were.

" Is it always this tense in here?" I asked Bree.

"Yes..often" Breereplied. "You should go my lady, go meet him before he asks for you"

I nodded and walked steadily to where they were, I stood behind MIguel until the King sighted me and pulled away from Miguel.

I curtsied as he saw me.

"Oh! I see you two are still together"

"yes Father..this is my beautiful wife..Kathia" Miguel said, holding me by the waist.

The king looked at us suspiciously, then he looked impressed. "Come here, daughter! You have outdone yourself"

He surprisingly pulled me closer and embraced me ..

"Hello Brother..glad you could make it" I heard someone said.

"I wouldn't miss it, brother" Miguel replied and just as The king and I stopped the warm embrace. I noticed Miguel and another of the same height and body structure embraced. Then he pulled away and pulled me closer to him.

"Mac, this is my wife, I am sure you remember her" he introduced me as I stared at the man in front of me, unable to breathe..

"How could I ever forget the beautiful Kathia, brother"

"Kathia, This is Macanthony, my brother"

I stood frozen as the man took my hand and kissed it, looking at me with a knowing look.

"MY lady"He said with a bow.

"My ..my Lord"
I stammered as right in front me, looking dashing and covered in expensive royal robe stood Anthony, my secret lover....

I AM RUNNING AWAY SO THAT NOBODY WILL BREAK MY HEAD...COME AND BEAT ME I'M IN MY HOUSE. HEHEHEHEH!
