Single and 30 - Episode 7
I would have updated this earlier, but I noticed some typographical errors, so I took my time to read through
AUTHOR’S POV
Doyin looked at Jeremy as if he has lost it.
“You mean you don’t want to get paid?” She asked him.
“Don’t get me wrong. I just don’t want payments for my services”, Jeremy explained.
Doyin’s frowned, confused. “Explain yourself Mr.”
He chuckled at her expression. “I rarely teach people. My sister asked me as a favour ”.
The length this friends of hers will go to help her, Doyin thoughts.
“D. What do you think of a dinner date, on wednesday. I will pick you up by seven”.
"A date?" Doyin asked
JEREMY’S POV
My restaurant in Lagos is almost ready for opening. All left to do is painting and furnishing. By next month, the other branches should be officially opened. I will need more than one branch in Lagos. I don’t think it will be easy breaking into the Nigerian market.
Doyin, I thought. I don’t think wooing her will be easy at all. My phone rings interrupting my thoughts.

. I tap the answer option.
“Hello!” A mature male voice sounds.
“Hello!”
“This is Cale Legal Consults. Am I speaking with Mr. Durosinmi.”
Cale Legal Consults. Rings a bell. “Yes”.
“I am Barrister J. Roland. I don’t know if you remember me. I was the defence lawyer you hired for that girl’s case 14 years ago. Your father gave me your number”.
“I do remember. It’s been a long time. Is anything wrong?”
A pause from the other end of the line.
“Barrister”, I called to confirm if he is still there.
“Well!” He started. “Someone is asking around about the girl. She says she’s her mother”.
“Mother?” I questioned. She has no mother and her foster mother is late.
“That’s what she said. She has quite a story to tell. I’m sure you would like to meet her”, the lawyer says.
“I would love to. Please send me her contacts”, I told him. “And-“ I continued. “Don’t tell her anything”.
“I won’t ever do that to a client. I swore to keep all details confidential. Mr. Durosinmi, I have got to go. I would send you her contacts. Her name is Aishat by the way”, the Barrister finished.
“Okay. Thanks”, I said before the line dropped.
Aishat. Who is she?
I look at my wristwatch 3’0clock. I have got to prepare dinner for my date.
CHIKA’S POV
My mother gives me a weak smile. “You have lost weight, my daughter. Is you husband treating you well?”
“Husband?” I asked confused.
“Don’t tell me you and Samuel are not yet married. You have been engaged before the accident I was involved in eleven months ago. What are you both waiting for?”
I sighed.
Read " A Bride For The Dumji Prince " by the same author ( Queen )
. “Mummy, I can hardly do a wedding with you being comatose”.
“I see………..”
I really wished she can see my mind.
“Your expression is too moody. What happened?” She asked me.
I sigh again. Then she guessed. “Your has agreed to the union. Hasn’t he?”
“He is still adamant”, I confess bursting into tears. A woman is allowed to cry at least in front of her mother.
She consoles me, shifting on her hospital bed. I realized that I have soaked her hospital gown with tears and I lift up my head to clean my face with my handkerchief. I cleaned my nose.
“Don’t worry, my girl. I would talk to Emeka. He has to see reason”, she assured me.
I sniffed. I really hope so.
