The Emerald Chase - Episode 21

*For some reason, Darren wanted to hug and comfort her.. He wanted to stroke her hair and kiss away her tears... He continued to watch on helplessly as she gathered the broken pieces of the picture frame crying... He winced when a broken glass pierced into her delicate palm,drawing out blood... He pulled her away from the floor and sat her on the bed.. Placing her head on his chest, he rocked her slowly, to and fro, caressing her hair as she cried.... He rubs his chest absentmindedly... Why was he feeling this way? Yes, anybody in his shoes would feel sad upon hearing her plight but no. What he felt wasn't sadness... It was desperation... The desperation to protect her from harm. the desperation to replace her tears with laughter... "It's going to be okay.. Relax" he whispers and when she didn't barge, he pulls back and realises she had fallen asleep... He carefully lays her on the bed and covers her with a duvet he found in the closet.... Bringing out two cloths, he wipes the blood off her palm and bandages it with the other..... He sits at the edge of the bed and stares at her sleeping, peacefully,calmly as the night whiled away.

Elvis paces the length of his room dialing Emerald's number for the thousandth time but it was still unreachable... He throws the phone unto the bed and sighs.

. "Where are you Emerald? I hope you are okay wherever you are... I can't lose you too..." He mutters glancing at the wall clock...

She wearily opened her eyes as a wave of nausea hits her... Dragging her tired body off the bed, she rushes to the washroom, vomiting.. After vomiting, she walks out to find Darren staring at her with a worried look... "Miss Arthur... Are you okay?" "Where am I? Why did you bring me here?!!!" She demands looking around the room that looked like it hadn't been used for ages.. "Relax... Nothing happened.. Your drink was spiked last night,hence you got drunk... Since I don't have your address, I brought you here" "I was drunk? But... I don't remember a thing.. And... Oh God" she exclaims holding her head between her hands. "Why does my head ache so badly?".

"Come" he helps her back to the bed and makes her sit with pilows propped at her back. "Drink this lime water. It will help" he takes the glass to her mouth and she drinks it.... "I prepared you breakfast... Eat up.. You look pale" "You Cook?" She asks surprised. "Well no... But there's nothing that can't be done without the internet. I searched for a few stuffs and prepared it.. So taste it and tell me if its a yay or nah" She smiles up at him and takes a spoon... She drops it immediately and groans... "How did i get hurt?" She mutters looking at her right hand..

"That's a story for another day.. Let me help" he takes the spoon and uncovers the rice porridge... He picks up the tin of milk and begins to pour it while he mixes the porridge.. She stares at him in awe as he continued to pour.. "Are you going to pour in everything?" "Well if you want me to" "Do you add so much milk to your food?" "Yea.. Good in calcium.. Can't you see?" He drops the spoon and lifts his arm showing her his biceps. She swallows... Well he was right... His biceps and abs were quite impressive... She wondered what it would feel like to see him completely naked!! "Fool!! Concentrate!!" She yells mentally... "Umm well yea.. But don't you know there's something called management?" She questions.. "Well not when it involves a beauty like you" he drops the now empty tin of milk and lifts his head just in time to see her blush. She looked so shy and cute.... He scoops a spoonful of the porridge and takes it to her mouth.She opens up and pushes the contents of the spoon into her mouth.. "Hmm..not bad" "You like?" Darren asks. "I love.... It's delicious" "Then have some more" he says and begins to feed her. They were interrupted by constant and harsh knocking on the door. "I'll be back" he says and goes to the door... He opens it to reveal three muscular tall masked men... "Stay away from the case. Withdraw that case from court. And tell your pretty little detective to stay clear off it as well.... She made a huge mistake by touching the CCTV footage which she was asked not to go near" one of them says... Darren could swear he knew those voices.. But where?. "And can you give me a tangible reason. Am an attorney, and I take up any case brought to me" "You are warned Darren Adams Benson!! The next time you see us, it will be fatal..Do not fight this case,if you love your life" Another voice warns and they walk away.

At a far distance, the three men remove their masks while one of them dials a number... "Hello,Stone.. Did you do what I asked?" "Yes chief..." "I hope you didn't hurt him.. He's my son.. I only asked you to threaten to him" "Not to worry sir... We didn't hurt him.. We just warned him" Stone answers...

. "Good. Now go to the address that I'm about to send you. He's the only eye witness to that stupid fraud case.... Shut him up... Kill him if possible.. Leave no trails... My son cannot win this case... Darren cannot win this case else all the evidence will point to me and I can't have that... Do everything you can to stop him from winning that case but don't hurt him" chief Benson warns. "Understood sir" stone replies and hungs up.
