Have you ever been in love?

I felt like I was reborn,

My limbs stretching, I stifled a giggle and ran, my eyes fixed on his rear

I felt my bones being regenerated

I felt them come to life

My "yam" legs moved in a pace I would have never moved just to catch up with him

I reached, I finally reached him

My lips tilted up into a smile and I felt my heart hammering against my chest threatening to explode

Taking a step forward, I reached out to touch him

My hands froze mid-air when he smiled,

So pure, so captivating

The most beautiful smile I've ever seen

I wanted to scream, not of joy as you may be thinking

But because that smile wasn't meant for me.

That smile that I so badly wanted

Was directed to a fair young lady, as beautiful as the sun

There and then, I knew I stood no chance

His palm that I wanted to feel on my skin 

Cupped her face very gently,

And his embrace that I would give anything to be in

Was given freely to her

One minute, I was thinking of uninstalling my WhatsApp,

The next I decided against it

Why, you ask me?

Because that was our only means of communication

Watching as he conversed so freely with this goddess

I felt a pang of hurt in my chest

Knowing that we never had and would probably never have a real life conversation

But then I'm grateful, he at least listens to all my problems and blabbing all the time

Even though he takes 40minutes to reply a single text.

Have you ever been in love?

I feel like this is the first for me

Even though I've said it countless times

What do I love about him you ask?

He is the only one I get to pour out my heart to

Even if we started talking not long ago

Even if it's only on WhatsApp

He's smart, gentle and totally different

I don't know how, I just know he is

Have you ever been in love?

Well, this experience for me is wonderful, sad, addicting and hurtful

Yes, I want to remain in love with him

And No, I want to free myself from this daily pain because,

I know he would never look my way.
