MY CHILDHOOD

Once upon a time! I was a child
filled to the brim with sublime innocence of childhood
On a day like this; a holiday
as teachers gives way and set us free
was a day to whirl and sway with friends and peers
On the play ground; our sole endearing theatre
Where we played and mimic the elders amidst the childhood gossip
How we dreaded the longest nights
and longed helplessly for the cock-crow
for nought, just for the play
That cut our days shorter and stretches our nights longer
Hence our absurd devotion was for the sun to stand still forever!
O! Childhood!
if only i can take an adventurous voyage across time
To catch only a glimpse of that gentle smile on your milky face
from a cheerful and peaceful heart
O! What a forgone era of natural innocence?
Only to be stolen away by this selfish ADULTHOOD!
