Falling For Innocence - Episode 27

Paul:

Something is wrong. I can feel it. The fact that Sarah is missing the

same day Amelia showed up here is fishy. I am pretty sure that Amelia

knows something about sarah's whereabouts and that call she received

also has something to do with it. I could see the alarm and panic on

her face after that call. I need to find out what is going on.

"Amelia wait!" I yell out to her as i run out of the house after her.

She is standing by the side of the road and i can feel the panicked

air around her.

"Why are you following me?"she ask while chewing on her lips restlessly.

"I need the truth. Where are you going amelia? Does this have anything

to do with Sarah?" I ask and she laugh weirdly.

"Ofcourse not. I said i have to work so-" she stop talking when i tug

her bottom lip from under her teeth.

"You always did that when you are nervous amelia" I tell her.

"Dont act like you know me Paul." She say without making eye contact. I

place my hand under her chin and force her head up so i can look into

her eyes.

"Something is wrong. What is it?"

"I can't tell you Paul

back tears. I brush a stray tear away.

"What is it? You can tell me."

" I want to but-"

"is this about sarah's disappearance?" I ask

"umm"

"It is. Isn't it? Is she in danger? Is this about your past? Amelia

talk to me!" I can't help it, my anger is beginning to go out of

control.

"Stop it Paul. You dont have any right to shout at me. I dont need

this right now. I have to go" she says and turn to walk away but i grab

her hand and spin her towards me. She lands on my chest and i wrap my

arm around her waist. I brush some of her hair off her face.

"Am sorry for yelling okay? Am just stressed out with you here and

Sarah missing. Am sorry okay?" I say and she nod.

"I don't know if I'll see you again Paul but you have to know that my

biggest regret is the fact that i didn't tell you about my past. If i

did, maybe things wouldn't be like this right now. Maybe the both of

us would still be together and my baby girl would be safe- i mean

happy" she say and i dont point out her slip on sarah's safety. This

confirms it, Amelia know Sarah is hurt somewhere but by whom? I am

surely going to find out

"I wish things were different amelia. I should have listened to you

and not a total stranger. I was a coward. I really wish you can

forgive me now."

"Oh Paul. We were both young back then. I was only 18 and the only

thing i knew was my love for you and our daughter. I dont know what

tomorrow may bring but i need to tell you that i still love you and

Sarah. You guys are the only family i have left and i would do

anything to make the both of you happy." Amelia says then hug me

fiercely and i use the opportunity to slip my phone into her dress

pocket. Thankfully the dress isn't a snug fit so she doesn't notice.

After some seconds, she release me.

"Am sorry for hurting you Paul and thank you for being my one and only

love. Goodbye Paul" She says and i nod solemnly. This is not our final

goodbye if i have anything to do about it.

I watch Amelia walk a few distance off then enter into a cab.

as the cab is out of sight, i turn back and quickly rush home.

"Did you catch up with her?" Margaret ask as soon as i walk into the

sitting room.

"Give me your phone" I tell her and she retrieve it from the couch then

hand it to me.

"Did she tell you what's going on?"

"no, she didn't but i am going to find out" i tell her

"I enter Google play and download the app i need to track my phone

which is inside amelia's pocket.

"What are you doing?" Margaret ask after a few minutes of silence.

"listen, i think Sarah and jake's disappearance has something to do

with amelia. I dont think she has a hand in it though. What i think is

that the call she received before leaving this house was about it. I

planted my phone on her and now i can find out where she is. Wherever

she is going right now, i need to find out"

"no--"

"what do you mean no?"

"I mean we need to find out." She tell me emphatically but i shake my head

"No, i can't let you in on this. This could be dangerous Margaret"

"I can't just sit here while you, Sarah and Jake could be in trouble.

I need to be able to do something"

"Okay. I'll go alone but you have to be with your smaller phone at all

times so i can contact you if there is a need to call the police

okay?" i ask

"Okay." she answers. I pick the keys to the rental car and start

walking out of the room when Margaret hug me from behind.

"I dont want to lose you Paul" she whisper and i know this has

something to do with amelia being back.

"You won't" I say but i am not even sure what i feel now that she is

back. Now isn't the time to think about it though. My daughter needs

me and so does Amelia. I release her hands from around me and turn to

kiss her forehead.

"Be with your other phone" I say before i walk out with my emotions all

over the place.
