Finding Solace - Episode 15

Hello guys, sorry this got delayed, been really swamped with work… I just had to write this as you know, the story is still a work-in-progress and I don’t want to make you wait for long.

FIONA
I smiled as I kept chatting with Noah. He was just too nice to me, even with way Nick had behaved today, he never got angry or anything. I still frowned anytime I remembered earlier. Why would he behave like that? 
But deep down, maybe he was right, Noah never actually said who he consulted for anyway. I liked Noah but I couldn’t trust him, Nick on the other hand was behaving like a child even though I could trust him. 
Just then, I could sense Nick’s cologne. He must be back from his outing, strange how I never had his car drove in.  I sat upright and quickly checked the mirror then I stopped. Why would I be looking into the mirror. Was it not the same Nick that had seen me in my worst? Yvonne’s boyfriend?
I shook my head at my stupidity. Why should I care if I looked fine or not.
I put down my phone and waited. He would knock soon.
He didn’t.
The scent of his cologne continued to linger in the atmosphere.
Was it scared if I was angry with him? Why was he not coming in?
I decided to stand up, just as  I reached the door, I heard his car being driven in. 
Okay, so where did the perfume come from? Definitely not Yvonne as she wasn’t around too.
I opened the door and began to climb downstairs. 
The scent was stronger now, it was beginning to make my eyes water and my head slightly dizzy, so I stopped in my tracks , covering my eyes with a hand.
Just then I heard footsteps, pounding against the floor, laughter rang in my ears and the noise of metals clinging together was overwhelming, I shut my eyes fast, covering my hands with my two hands.
The door opened and the noise, the scent all went away as quickly as they came.
“Are you okay Fi?” Nick asked, rushing towards me.
“Yes , I think I am now.” I replied, his arms were around my waist and the other hand placed on my forehead. I have never felt this close and so comforted

. That moment was the safest I have ever felt.
“I heard noises and metals like keys and so many things happening same time, it was like my head would explode.”
“You are fine now. Tomorrow, we would go to the psychologist.

. Okay?”
I nodded.
He didn’t move back and I didn’t too, maybe it was my thought but I could have sworn I felt him brush the hair on my forehead back and when the door opened, his arms dropped and I also pulled back…slightly.
Yvonne looked at us suspiciously.
“What are you two up to?”
“Fiona had some memory flashes. We would go to the psychologist tomorrow.” Nick quickly said, now climbing downstairs towards her. 
“Your hair is beautiful darling.” He said, pulling her close and kissing her cheeks.
“Oh! Thanks dear! I’m glad you like it.” She replied. “By the way, you would have to postpone the visit to the psychologist because we are having a party tomorrow.”
Nick looked at her, his brows bumping together. “What party?”
“Well, it is your birthday baby boy and we are going to blast it.”
“But baby, you know I hate parties.” Nick whined but then faced me. “But, I think we would hold this one for Fiona, it might bring some memories, right?”
I smiled. 
“Well, then , we need to start getting things  done. Fiona, I think I have a cloth you can wear…” She said but stopped when Nick said-
“No babe. “ Then he brought out his card and handed to me. “Buy her something nice, the hair too needs to be done.” Then he winked at me before leaving.
I was excited as I held the card in my hand, but the excitement died down with the look on Yvonne’s face. She didn’t seem happy.
“Well, I guess we can do something about your hair. Why don’t you give me the card first, let me hold on to it, we don’t want you to lose it and not have a memory of where you kept it, right?”
Without saying  anything, I handed to her.
