Love-Life of Asante - Episode 25

And so it was Asante's Birthday. Two years plus after she had graduated from the University and was celebrating her 26th year. 

"Happy Birthday" Came the loud voice of Akosua from the phone as she had made sure she was the first to call her that morning.She then added Adesuwa to the call making it a conference call.

"And so, I was the first to call you today. I have finally beaten Adesuwa to it" Akosua said thinking she had won this time around.

"You are still on this competition thing Akosua. Chai. Adesuwa had called since 12:01 oh. You are even probably like the fifth person calling me today. But all the same Thank you dear." Asante said as she laughed.

"Babe, why are you explaining to her sef" Came the voice of Adesuwa. "You should have allow to still be thinking that she has won na. Win kor. Even Asher’s Birthdays, you sometimes end up being the 20th caller. Much more Asante."Adesuwa added then she hissed.

"Well, let’s not just start again. It’s too early. How are we doing it today na?Where are you taking your girls to? "Adesuwa added as she laughed from her own end of the phone.

"Mehn, ladies see, I had a plan for us oh. To go somewhere and relax like we have always done from year one

. But, Gideon seems to have a different plan for me oh. He called this morning to tell me about us meeting in a restaurant this evening." Asante said.

"Oh oh.” Akosua said as she grumbled.“What kind of unannounced date is this onena?  Today of all days. So we will not see you on your birthday?" Akosua added feeling angry that she won't have the opportunity to eat free food today. Years after graduation, she had still not lost her love for free food.

"Hahahaha" Asante laughed softly and then said. "Not like that babes. He sounded serious oh. I am thinking something positive sha" Asante said thinking Gideon was gonna pop out the big question.

"Wait oh! Are you guys thinking what am thinking? Wow. Mehn,that’s how Asante will finally leave us in this singles market oh." Akosua said aloud with much curiosity in her voice.

"Babe am so happy for you. That's good news." Adesuwa added to the conversation.

"Thanks girls. Will brief you people when we are done. Am just imagining how I am going to say the “Yes” in a stylish manner.” Asante said already feeling on top of the world.

“Take care of my guys oh." Asante she added as they hung up the phone and went for their respective duties.

Asante felt so happy like never before in her life. This was her third year of meeting Gideon and it seems Gideon have finally decided to ask her to become her wifey on this very day of her birthday.

However, the unexpected happened as Gideon broke up with her. Yet she never knew the reasons why he did……………

"Where am I" Came the faint voice of Asante who was just regaining consciousness after her supposed collapse in the restaurant.

The heart break had come as a shocker and she still could not believe Gideon would have done such cruel thing to her.

"Men are scum. And I will keep saying this irrespective of what you all think" Came the voice of Adesuwa, who happened to have ran down when she heard of her collapse at the restaurant. She had called up the other gang of their cliques who all came around with the exception of Asher.

After school, they all had went for their respective passion and areas of interest to practice. And this created a kind of separation among them geographically.

. Even though they were all still in same city except Akosua, whose place was a little bit farther.

They were already with Asante in the Hospital, and couldn't even have the patience or courtesy of leaving the hospital before they start expressing their feelings about men. Adesuwa being the ring leader.

"Haba, you don't have to keep reiterating that fact. They are scum no doubt, but at least you can express it in a more euphemistic manner. We are in the hospital remember?" Akosua said clearly emphasizing the 'hospital' with her Ghanaian accent.

"Well if men are really scum as you guys claim, perhaps I am also a scum and so is Asher and thus don't deserve to be in your midst abi?" Came the masculine voice of Ayo, who seems to have developed a deep voice after the days of University.

"Of course you are scum too. Just that you haven’t manifested it yet" Adesuwa quickly cut in and they all laughed together.

Soon they had almost forgotten that they had a friend to console who was lying down there just staring at them all. At a point she couldn't help but laugh a little too.

"Don't worry dear. People like Gideon don't deserve to be on planet earth. They are supposed to be living in Mercury or Venus so the sun can easily scorch that plastic object in their head they call brain." Adesuwa added blasting Gideon so as to make Adesuwa feel good. 

"Thank God you are not God oh. If all you said were really obtainable, perhaps by now Bernard and Abraham would have met same fate. But have they?" Akosua said as she made fun of Adesuwa.

Adesuwa then looked at her with a very strange face that one would think one of her kidneys was being requested from her.

“That reminds me, who has heard of Abraham of late? I still miss that dude oh” Ayo added as he remembered Abraham when Akosua made reference to his name. Deep within him, he still believes Asante did not handle the Abraham’s case well. Perhaps they would have been here.
