Scars - Episode 10
Being Woke
Esmeralda walked briskly. She knew she was better off dead. What was the point of living. SUICIDE, she would take her life. She would be free of shame, pain and loneliness. But then she'd be on a short trip to hell. She'd live. Since the earth has failed to love her, she only wished the hereafter will be fair to her.
Here she was, looking at the cemetery. She grabbed her hand bag, she turned it inside out, she was searching for her son's pictures. Mrs. Nwosu was kind enough to give her pictures of various stages of her son's life. She missed all, all of it.
As though prompted by a force she wailed when she saw her son's grave. He was named "Nobel Francis Nwonso". She cried all the more. Thoughts of moments never shared, of her son never knowing her, of never knowing his favourite places, food.

. She wasn't known by her son. She was never a part of his life. "Francis", she named him after her father, she was grateful Mrs. Nwosu never changed that.
She sat down close to his grave, her mind drifted. Restitution, the priest had asked her to go home to her mum, he said she owed her mum the truth

. She hasn't heard from her mom for over 20 years, she wasn't sure where she lived. What if ma has died? She thought? She jolted, said a little prayer, asking God to please keep her mum. She would go find her mum. She needed to.
She composed herself and walked out of the cemetery, her phone peeped, it was Nicolette. She removed her sim card and threw her phone away. "Old things are passed away, everything has become new". Esmeralda looked at herself and said "I'd stay woke"
