Weary
DAY 27
“George, what brings you to my humble abode, I have tried severally to reach you and it’s been futile”. Phil said coming down the stair.
“Since you abandoned me, I decided to come to you” George replied
“I have been busy, my good friend”
“Darling, I can’t find my undies” said a voice from the room upstairs.
“I see what has been keeping you busy, you never mentioned you have a woman in your life” said George with a mischievous grin.
“Baby, check the wardrobe” replied Phil. He then turned to George “Just some of these random girls”
“I see”
“How is your wife?” Phil asked.
Anger filled George’s heart, but he wasn’t going to let anger get the best of him again.
“She is amazing. She said you both go way back”, George said with mischief in his voice.
“I don’t know, I can’t remember” Phil said.
“I see, she said you both were in a relationship and so on. Well that is none of my business. She is no longer at my place. We parted ways

“This is sad. Actually, I had something with her, I didn’t know how you would have taken it, but since you both have parted ways I think its best I tell you. We were in a serious relationship before leaving for my masters, and after I called the relationship quit, she called to say she was pregnant. Could you imagine? I asked her to flush it out, I wasn’t even sure I owed the child, not like I deflowered her. I’m sure it’s her sleeping around that made it impossible for her to give you childr...”
Before the word could finish forming in his mouth, George dealt him a life changing blow. Pounced on him and began hitting. Thank God for the lady in the house who ran to call the gateman.
“So you are the reason my wife has no womb, she was right, you son of the devil. You better pray I find my wife, you made her abort for you. Pray well, else the next time you see me, we would both end up in heaven’s gate”. With these words, George left the bleeding Phil to wipe himself. Going half way, George turned back and looking squarely at the girl said, “Hey, just in case you want to carry your own babies, you’d leave this wolf and get something doing with your life”. Pushing the gateman, he went in search of his wife.

Nicolette was staring out of her window. Her husband wasn’t talking to her, he asked her to find her sister, and he wasn’t taking her sides. He too abandoned her; he blamed her for Esmeralda’s disappearance. She had blabbed, but no one was even having pity on her pregnant being. She turned and glanced at her scan, her baby wasn’t well placed. Her husband didn’t bulge; he didn’t even give sound concerned when she mentioned it.
“You are a doctor; take care of you and the baby yourself. Find Esmeralda and I’d know what to tell you”. Her husband said.
He had never been rash with her, he has always been tender, Esmeralda’s disappearance has affected her whole life.
Her phone beeped.
“Hello, do you have anything on her?”
“Oh my God, try harder, try more”
“Yes”
“No”
“You have till weekend. Find her”.
She dropped the phone, her face showed disappointment.
No news about Esmeralda yet.
Esmeralda, was tired, she has walked the breadth and length of G.R.A yet no news of her mum. She does not know how else to describe her mum, she can’t even say if she was now fat or not. She doesn’t know anything. “Help me God” she muttered.
Yesterday and today, wasted efforts.
She decided to go into a nearby cybercafé to check her mail.
Lots of unread messages; courtesy of her husband, no ex-husband, her lost friend Nicolette, her secretary and James, Nicolette’s husband. All messages were worry filled. She decided to reply one of the messages, but declined.
“Old things are passed away”.
