Scars - Episode 1
Dilemma
Why are we so quick to see memory as unreliable in other people but never in ourselves.
I could be guilty of editing.
I think we all are,if we are honest with ourselves.
I have always argued if I was the villain or victim,
So much that it never occurred to me if I wanted to be either of those things!
Or which role I have played in someone else’s narrative.
Maybe things fell apart for good.
DAY 1:
Hurriedly she made her way through the crowd. She did not know what was chasing her or what she was running after. Maybe it was the crowd, their stare was unbearable. Probably, it could be the cloud, which was obviously willing to deliver.
Looking at herself, she gasped. Her dress was utterly ruined. this was no time for self-pity she told herself, all she needed was piety.
“God bless my soul” she murmured as she recounted what happened some minutes back.
She had stopped at the market to purchase some clothing when she came across this little seven years old lad crying. Moved with pity, she walked up to him.
“Sweetheart, why are you crying?” she asked. The little one gave no response

. She drew him close to herself and wiped his face with her handkerchief. She then reached for her handbag and brought out a wrap of meatball.
“Have this” she said to him and for the first time, the little boy looked at her. stretching his arm, he collected the meatball and ate hurriedly.
“Thank you ma. God bless you.

. You really are a nice mother”.
Those words stung her more than a bee sting would have, she found herself trying to fight back tears. In haste, she walked to her left. If only I had a child she said to herself. Life has not treated her fairly. “If only You bless me with a child this month, then will I really be a good mother” she prayed silently . Being married for twenty years without a child is not pleasing, no matter how much love her husband showed her, she knew that he would have been happier if he had a child. Maybe this was her month after all, her monthly period was not forthcoming, she experienced no premenstrual crams. GLORY! she would be pregnant.
“What if it is menopause?” a voice in her head said to her. She felt her heart miss a beat at the thought of that possibility.
“Excuse me ma’am”. She turned to see who taped her and it was some corp member.
“How may I help you” She asked him.
“Actually ma, you are stained” he replied.
“Thank you”. Her voice was bought frail and tearful.
Now, here she was walking like some haunted ghost.
Blessed be God who made her a female being.
