Something was not right ……

I kept tossing on the bed…

Something was definitely not right but I had no idea what it could be…..

I stood up from the bed. I noticed that Tommy’s suitcase was no longer where it used to be, he left for work  early today…too early….

I frowned …why do I feel so restless?

I checked my phone to see if I had any message from the lady. The lady I had met at FLINT, the one who told me that Loretta disappeared. I gave her my number to let me know if she showed up anytime.

I could see the envelope at the top of my screen and I clicked on it.  What I saw made me gasp. It was Loretta, alright? Her eyes were closed and there were several wounds on her face. Her lips were dry and her cheeks were swollen.  ‘I saw this in a newspaper, now you have your answer. She is dead, the people staying around the place said she drowned. Now please do not contact me again.”

I noticed I was trembling and my heart was beating so fast…the same way it had when I heard that Fred might have died….

Just then Maimunat came in. she looked surprised as she saw me awake, then she apologised.

“What is it?” I asked her.

“Boss said to start packing your things”

“My things?”

I asked again and she nodded.

“I don’t understand

. For what?”

“He said you are travelling soon, all of you.”

“But that is till the end of the month…” My phone rang, luckily it was Tom.

“Tom what is going on?”

“Baby, something just came up. We have to leave sooner, so the guards will come pick you. I will explain when we see.”

Before I could say anything, the call ended.

What is going on?

We arrived at the airport some minutes later. I saw Tommy and Freddie by Tommy’s other car. When Freddie saw me, he rushed to me and embraced me.

“Mummy. What is happening? Why are we leaving so soon?”

“I don’t know baby, that is what I want to ask Tommy.”

Then holding his hand I walked away from the car that brought me to the car where Tommy was sitting. He was all suited up and talking on the phone. When he saw me he hanged up and stepped out of the car while Freddie continued playing game on his tab.

“Tommy, what the hell is this? Why the sudden rush? Why do I feel like I am being abducted with my child?” I demanded.

He smiled and took my hand, kissing it.

“I can’t abduct my own beloved wife and son.

. Something just came up.”

“What?”

“I have a meeting in the UK and I also realized that this place has really changed us. Imagine, when was the last time we made love. You are so distracted and you barely tell me things anymore. Ever since we got here also, Freddie has been calling me Tommy, instead of daddy. Its like this place holds such a memory for you that you are afraid of living life.”

Maybe he was actually right and that fact made me quiet…

“But you could have waited till the end of the month. What about Freddie’s school that he is about to star?”

His phone started ringing again and he excuse himself, walking further down to where the other car was packed, by the other side of the airport road.

I sighed and leaned against the car. Loretta’s picture came to my memory again and I shut my eyes.

“Mummy, I have a surprise for you.” Freddie said coming to meet me.

“What is that love?” I asked with a smile.

He went inside the car and brought out his bag. In his hands were my pictures, the one Loretta showed me, the one I ve been looking for.

“Oh my God!” I gasped. Where did you see those?”

“In daddy’s office. Isn’t that you, in that restaurant we went the other time? Just that it looks different now from this picture…”

I snatched the pictures from him.

What were they doing with Tommy….why did he take them? Oh my God! Did he have something to do with Loretta!

My heart was beating so fast I just took the pictures with me…I needed to ask him some questions.

I crossed the road and flung the pictures at him.

“What is this Tommy? What are you not telling me? Why do you have the pictures that Loretta gave me? These are the pictures that she gave me? Why did she die Tommy? I need answers!”

HE turned around to face me but instead, his face turned to that of  horror…..

“Oh my God! He whimpered.”

I turned to see what caught his attention and I almost lost my balance. Two cars collided and in between them, on the floor lay my son…

Oh no no no! How! How…I don’t…I just don’t…..”

Tommy held me by the waist as his guards rushed to Freddie who was low lifeless…

Tommy was on the phone again….

“Hello Doctor Randy…please I am bringing my son to your hospital right now>……”
