An Arranged Marriage - Episode 23

He seats at the head of the table like he owns it.

That's the thought uppermost in my mind as I watch him bring his fork of beef to his mouth.

I don't know why I made beef stew, probably because he told me that he likes it that other day.

Nonetheless, that's not the problem now, the problem is the fact that he's seating all the way over there, lording it over us.

I almost groan, how did I become so petty, I look away from my food to glance at everyone else.

Linda looks like she could use another serving of stew, Cash is eating passively, no expression on his face whatsoever.

I sigh, the tension at this table could kill.

"Well, what conclusions did you all come to?" I ask.

"Maybe you would have found out if you didn't run to the kitchen" Anaya says, I see she's back to hating me then.

"Just talk to me" I say, pushing my half full plate away, I vaguely notice Kane's eyes follow it.

"We've decided to let it all die a natural death, making a statement will give them more things to think and speculate about, all you have to do at this juncture is make sure you don't pull too much light to yourself" Cash says, wiping his mouth and I see he's done with his meal.

"Okay, but, is that really gonna help? I know you all are professionals but in movies they always make a statement or something" I say and Linda chuckles.

"The best way to handle the media is to ignore them, when they refuse to go away throw a lawsuit at one of them, if they persist go on an extended vacation and relax a while" She says and I crack a smile, she does so too.

"You would know about media attention" Cash says.

"F*ck you"She says to him.

" Well, you don't have to worry about about anadia causing a scene or anything of that sort, she barely leaves the house. " Aroofa says and I throw her a glare.

" What's that ? "The first sound from Kane since the conversation started.

Aroofa freezes, we've all being doing our best to ignore him since the meal started, and he was fine with being ignored until now..

. Well.. Anadia has a.. Uh.. She doesn't like crowds that's all, some days she barely leaves the house" Aroofa stutters out.

"I won't say it like it's a phobia Aroofa" I say, really glaring at her this time.

"You don't have to know about that.." I say to Kane "... He doesn't have to know about that" I say to the girls.

Aroofa mimics zipping her mouth.

I turn to Linda.

"Will you excuse me? I'm just gonna go take my drugs, I will be back soon" I say and she nods, waving me on.

I feel eyes on me and I see Cash watching me.

I smile.

He does not smile back..

Well, it's obvious the recent activities has not endeared him with me then.

I exit the dinning and enter the sitting room, climbing up the stairs and into my room.

I flop on my bed in the darkness, I love my room, I really do.

I have little glow lights strewn around everywhere so that if I don't want to switch on the overhead lights I can still see around.

I'm tempted to lie here on my bed and wait for them to clear out before I go downstairs.

Seating close to him, standing close to him is too intense, I can't breath most of the time.

I sigh, curling in a ball.

"I'm not a fan of seeing you curled into balls baby" A voice says as the overhead lights on.

"How did you get in here so silently?" I ask, sitting up and getting off my bed, conspicuously looking around my room for any sign of a bra or pant or something.

I know I won't find any but that doesn't stop me from worrying.

"The door was unlocked, your hinges don't make much noise" He says, his eyes watching me.

"I said I was going to be downstairs soon" I say, walking to my nightstand and grabbing the drugs doctor Jenny prescribed for me, I shake one into my palm and swallow with the glass of water already there. 

"I came to find you" He says, seating himself on my bed, I look to his position and then to his face. 

I'm confused so I move out of his reach to the dressing table. 

"Come here" He says. 

"I find that I don't want to, I'm good right here" I say, damn him if he thinks he's gonna pull down the shield I put up with much effort. Hell No. 

"Come here" He says again, With much emphasis but I still don't move, instead I ask. 

"What is your deal?" 

"My deal?" He echos. 

"Yes, your deal, your play, what's up with the mixed signals? One moment you burn hot and then on the next you are ice cold" I say, leaning my hip on my dressing table, he looks at my stance then to my face. 

"You are not coming here" 

"I'm not a dog, if you want me then you have to come get me" I say, folding my hands over my chest. 

"I'm going to win this game"

"It's not a game Caspian" 

"Don't call me Caspian" 

"You are under my roof and in my house, I think I have the right to call you whatever the f*ck I want" I say and he rises, slowly, menacingly, I take a step back but I can't go further because the nightstand digs into my butt. 

He's in front of me in an instant, his hands whipping out so fast that I don't even have the chance to think to dodge it. 

He's pulling me into his arms, wrapping a hand in my hair and tilting my head back. 

"Say that again" He growls. 

"Let go of me" I say in a whisper. 

"Say the f*ck you just said right now again" He says and I glare into his eyes. 

"Let me the f*ck go Caspian" 

"I like the way my name sounds on your lips, go on, call me Caspian again" He says. 

"Let me go Kane" I say in defiance, His eyes dulls.

"*confused, that's what you f*cking are, your body telling me something and your mouth saying something else, your eyes don't lie though, it f*cking likes this, you want me don't you? There's a bed behind you, you want me to take you there and give you some loving with my fingers? Or my mouth? whatever you want baby girl" He says and my breath hitches, even though all the things he just said are what I want he's not going to get me to admit it, not with the way he's acting. 

"Let me go Kane" I say and something in my  voice must have broken because he stares into my eyes and let's me go,gently. 

"Baby.."He begins. 

" I'm not a fan of being passively abused Kane "I say. 

" I'm not a fan of that insinuation Ani, Did I hurt you? Did my words hurt you? I'm never gonna do something you don't like girl, think about that before you get it in your head that I'm an abuser "He says, stepping back, I waver, my weight was on him, he holds me steady. 

" You gonna stay still long enough for me to apologise for the assholery I conducted downstairs or you are gonna continue being a pain in the ass"i pause, he came here  to apologise?

" Seeing you are getting it, I came in to apologize, maybe help you sooth your leg with that gel, but if you in the mood for anything that involves my fingers  or mouth on a certain area of your body then I'm down for it too" He says with a cheeky smile and the dimples slap me in the face. 

I almost gasp at the magnificence of it. 

I don't though. 

Instead I blink and ask. 

"What do you mean your fingers or mouth exactly?" I ask, breathless. 

"Well, shoot me" He says before throwing his head back and barking out a laugh.
