Happy Never After - Episode 11

“Hey girlie, how’s the honeymoon going?”

Alicia smiled as she made a video call with Tonia and Camil.

“It’s going on fine,” she replied, taking her cup of tea with her to the living room.

“Oh my God! The house is gorgeous, how I wish I can come over…” cried Tonia

“No way,” replied Alicia, laughing. “Three is a crowd. This is just for myself and my husband.”

Camily scowled at her but she instead stuck out her tongue and they both laughed.

It was several days after the restaurant saga and she was alone in the house while Daniel was doing something around the house. Camil and Tonia  decided to call her via video call and to at least see part of the house.

“So tell me, is he everything you have always wanted?” Camil asked.

Alicia lay on the couch, half-smiling. “Honestly?” she asked.

“Yes, babe. Tell me.”

“He is,” she replied.

“So, between him and Fabian, whose Mr J, is more satisfying?” Tonia asked with a wink. Alicia laughed out loud and looked behind her to be certain that Daniel wasn’t anywhere close.

“Honestly?” she started and brought the tab close to her mouth

. “I’d vote Fabian…” she whispered and the girls  gasped.

“You slut!” Camil shouted and they laughed.

“But, Daniel has been really wonderful. He is everything and more. Though, staying here has been a bit strange. He also asked if I would like to stay here, forever…”

“Oh my gosh! What did you say?” asked Tonia

“I said no, girl, I can’t.”

“Why not? He is rich and he will definitely set you up,” said Tonia.

“What do you think, Camil?” Alicia asked her other friend.

Camil only shrugged. “He is your husband. If you trust him and if that is what you want to do. But, be careful and make sure this is what you really want.”

“I say, go for it,” Tonia put in but Alicia ignored her .

“So, have you seen Faith, lately?” Alicia asked.

“We should ask you, she is your bestfriend,” replied Tonia.

“We had a fight and I haven’t spoken to her. Is it true that Fabian is dead?” Alicia asked.

The ladies exchanged glances and nodded.

“Yes, we heard. Faith told us but we do not want to interfere,  you know the whole murder case was quite suspicious and being imprisoned, we do not want to meddle,” Camil replied.

Alicia sighed. “So, Faith hasn’t reached out to you both?”

The girls shook their head.

“No, she said she was travelling but, we haven’t heard from her in days,” replied Camil.

“Okay, thanks. I will call Lydia and ask her.”

“Take care, babe.”

The call ended and she sat up straight while Daniel came in.

“Hi darling,” he said, coming towards her.  “Were those your friends?” he asked, sitting beside her.

“Yes. They just called to say hi,” she replied and then realized his hands were dirty. “What have you been doing?”

“Just had to shift some things at the basement. I may need to go into town and get some tools.”

She frowned. “You, carpentry work. You never told me you could do any of these things before we met.”

He smiled. “I believe I didn’t tell you lots of things, you just need to find out. Do not go to the basement without me. I need to finish the work first.”

She chuckled and minutes later, he was driving out of the compound while she watched.

FLASHBACK

Fabian was great, he was everything she hadn’t even expected. He made her happy with everything he did and she was really happy.

“Why don’t you move in with me,” he asked her three months later. They were in his apartment, on his bed.

Alicia was at first surprised. “Move in with you?”

He shrugged. “Yes. Is that a bad thing? To move in with your doctor so I can take proper care of you?” he teased, kissing her.

She laughed. “Things have been great, Fabian. Can’t we just leave it as it is?” she asked.

“Why? You don’t want us to go the next level?” he asked.

She sighed. She didn’t know what reply to give. Things have really been great and gradually, she was falling in love with him but, she didn’t want to rush things.

“Bad things usually happen when things get serious,” she said to him.

He frowned. “Bad things, like what?”

She shrugged. “We may start fighting and then, you may start thinking that I am no longer good for you.”

He smiled and drew her closer to him. “I love you, Alicia. I love you very much…” he waited for her response but she only opened her mouth and closed it.

“It’s okay. I do not want to push you into feeling what you are yet  to feel or into saying what you are not ready to say. I have loved you even when you hated me. I am going to be patient with you until you feel the same. I won’t push you into doing things you are not ready for.”

She inhaled. He was the most understanding man she has ever seen. She knew she loved him, what was there not to love, but something kept holding her back.

“Thank you,” she replied before kissing him but then whispered. “Yes, let’s do this.”  That night, she got his spare key, with the plan of moving in her things gradually.

The next day at work, she sat in her office, chatting with Fabian. He was saying all sort of naughty things to her, making her blush and excited. They were supposed to go on a date later that night and he also said he had a surprise for her. While she typed her reply, Camil walked in.

“Babe, there is a guy here who wants to see you,” said Camil. “Babe, he is so fine and all tall and muscular. He is hot as hell. Who is he?”

At first, she wasn’t sure,  so she followed her out to where the man waited.  She frowned as she saw him. He was dark, tall in a body-hug which revealed the entire abs in the right places. His lower lip was pink and he had that devilish look. The one that would stop a woman in her track.

“Hi babe,” he said, holding a bouquet in his hand.

When she heard his name, her heart did a double flip.  “Daniel?”

“Yes, it’s me, babe,” he replied, smiling at her.

Alicia couldn’t think and at the same time, her phone was ringing, it was Fabian.

. She didn’t pick it, not when Daniel was standing inches from her and gathering her in his arms.

“I thought I was never going to find you, I missed you so much,” he said, clouding her senses with the scent of his cologne.

“I missed you too,” she replied and then pulled away as she saw Fabian looking at them from the entrance, he also had a flower in his hand.

Fabian walked closer. “I have called like four times, what is going on and who is this?” he asked, looking at Daniel suspiciously.

Alicia sighed. This would really be difficult.   “Fabian, this is Daniel…”

Alicia frowned.  “Fabian, this is Daniel…”

Fabian was surprised. “The fake man?” he asked.

“Happens he is genuine,” she replied, looking at the floor.

“He is Fabian,” she started. “My friend,” she added with difficulty.

“Nice to meet you man,” said Daniel, extending his hand to Fabian. But Fabian didn’t take it.

“Can we talk?” he whispered into her ear and they walked a bit away.

“So now we are friends? All of a sudden? What does this mean? Are you running into his arms? Is he here to take you away from me?” he demanded.

“Look, Fabian. I am stressed out already, don’t complicate things. I am trying to sort things out…”

 He looked at the bouquet in Alicia’s hand and then threw his into the basket close to them. “Seems you already sorted things out,” he replied and walked away from her angrily, slamming the door as he left.

“Wow! Does he have an anger issue?” Daniel asked behind her, chuckling.

“Let’s just go,” she replied, following Daniel out while her heart kept beating fast, knowing she had made a terrible mistake…

WOW, THIS IS REALLY SERIOUS. BUT I LOVE WHAT FABIAN DID THOUGH. NA MAN HE BE, LOL. OR WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE DONE IF YOU WERE THE ONE? AND LET'S LOOK AT THIS LADY, DON'T LET'S BLAME HER YET, SHE IS JUST CAUGHT IN BETWEEN TWO GUYS AND THE SITUATION IS CRITICAL LOL...WHAT DO YOU THINK?  THINK SHE COULD HAVE HANDLED IT BETTER?
