My Mistake - Episode 15

The pain in her heart was unbearable. She felt the world spinning around her, her breath hitching. This wasn't something she had expected, never had she thought of waking up one day to a pain like this.

Ahe couldn't stay and listen to Fadeel as he rambled on how he loved Amirah___the so called girl she believed to be a friend who had loved and cherished her. But no, she was wrong.

She had been deceived by both her husband and friend. The annoying part is that, that friend of hers is coming in as a second wife to share her husband. How will she handle something like that?

She rolled to the other side of her bed, her eyes tightly shut as she let the tears she had been trying to hold back fall. She won't let something like this happen. She's going to fight till the very end!

Her phone buzzed for the third time that morning, she inhaled a deep breath before finally picking up the phone as she wiped her tears.

"Damn! You scared me. I've been calling you since yesterday___are you okay?"

It was the witch! The stupid evil witch!

"Amirah, am fine. Was just too shocked to talk to any one. Can you come over?"

"Sure. Already on my way

"Okay." Aysha replied before sitting up. She'll make Amirah regret ever messing up her life.

She took a quick shower and dressed. Stepping out of the room, she inhaled the Fadeel's constant scent as she closed her eyes savoring the scent. This was the scent of the man she loved and still loved___she was angry and broken at what he did___but still couldn't bring herself to stop loving him. What hurts her the most was the betrayal from some one she assumed to be a friend.

She looked around the empty kitchen as she stood in the middle. She didn't bother waking up today to prepare Fadeel his breakfast. Didn't even bother acknowledging his presence when he came banging on her door to tell her he's going for work. She'll make them pay!

"Anybody home?" she heard Amirah yelling from the living room.

About time bitch!

"Yes. Coming girl." She took a bottle of water and ab apple in her hand before stepping out of the kitchen.

Amirah was already seated, tapping on her phone quickly with her brows creased. As soon as she heard movement beside her, she looked up and caught Aysha's hateful gaze.

"You knew" she spoke up, realizing that there's no point in pretending like Aysha did "been waiting for a moment like this. And had it been Fadeel had told me he'll be breaking the news to you yesterday, i would've been here in time to help with that. So, how does it feel to be betrayed?"

Aysha was dumbfounded, she had thought that Amirah will feel guilty, even if it was for a short time. Guess she's yet to know what the real Amirah is capable of.

"Why?" She found herself asking, as she slumped down on the couch beside Amirah.

"I've always hate that you have everything i never had. Is that enough reason?" Amirah asked smirking.

"The hell!" Aysha yelled throwing the apple in her hand towards Amirah "what have i ever done to you? I've been a good friend, I've been by your side all this while. Why did you have to do this? And now my life is doomed because of you!"

"I've always wanted your life to be doomed! I've always wanted to see you suffer, to see you in pain___to see you loose every single thing you love and cherish so that i can have them. I've always hated the fact that you have everything I've ever wanted, everything I've ever wished for. It's so annoying seeing how rich your parents are, how beautiful you are___how most guys always approach you when we're together not me. How you and Fa'izah are more closer to each other than me. I've always hated you Aysha, and I've always wished for you to be doomed till eternity!"

The look on Aysha's face was capable of breaking someone's heart. All her life, she had never knew someone hated her as much as Amirah did. But now she knows___not all that glitter is gold.

"I...yy..aaa..."

"You just watch and see, how I'll get into this house as your co-wife and deal with you. You'll forever regret the fact of trusting me or ever crossing my path. Mark my words!" And she left, banging the door loudly behind her.

And now, she wanted to cry so badly but the tears aren't cooperating. How she wished her eyes will listen to the pain in her heart and let go of the tears.

Fa'izah couldn't believe for the love of her life that Fadeel was serious about getting married to Amirah in two weeks time. How messed up is something like this? Their parents had made it clear that they aren't in support of something like this, but Fadeel met Alhaji Ibrahim and swore to him he can't live without Amirah.

Aysha's father gave his blessings and also forced Fadeel's parents to do so. It wasn't as easy as Fadeel thought, his parents aren't talking to him any more. But that wasn't what matters to him then__all he wants is to finally make Amirah his and be a father.

When Fa'izah visited Aysha the next day, she couldn't help but shed tears at how bad Aysha looks. She looks broken and frail. Who wouldn't be when your best friend is marrying your husband? She thought.

"They can't get married right? You guys won't allow something like that right?"

"How i wish there's something i can do about this, but there's nothing to do Aysha. All i want from you is to be prayerful and never loose hope.".

"No!" She snapped angrily "they can't get married. I won't allow that to happen__they can't, they really can't."

"Aysha calm down please."

"Calm down? You expect me to calm down with something like this? Can't you all feel my pain?"

"You pushed me away when i tried helping you. When i tried to make you understand that how you plan to make Yaya Fadeel yours is wrong!" 

"Do you have to bring that up now? Are you here to rub it to my face that i was dumb and stupid? Are you?"

"I only came because Mama asked me to check up on you. I've promised myself i won't interfere in this mess, i already tried helping once, i won't do that again."

"You're a hypocrite!"

"Aysha, please... Just let him get married in peace for goodness sake!. Why are you acting like a new born baby?". Fa'iza snapped at her "I'm only here to help".

"Have you now!" Aysha could feel an anger rising in her. It started as a spark and became a flame that exploded inside her. They still were not through with her. They were going to make her pay for the rest of her life. Well, she had had enough.

When Aysha spoke, her voice was trembling. "I have nothing to say to you! You go back and tell them whatever you please. Fa'iza! There's no way I'll sit in this house and watch Fadeel get married to another woman. No i won't. I did something stupid, but as far as i know, there's no law against stupidity. Fadeel thinks I'm now worthless". She waved a scornful hand in the air. "If i had known, do you think i would've done it?" Her voice was beginning to choke up. "I___I don't Care what you do. All i want is to be left alone. Now please go away!".

Aysha turned and fled into the bathroom, slamming the door behind her.

She stood against the sink, taking deep breaths, wiping the tears from her eyes. She knew she had behaved stupidly. _That's twice_, she thought wryly. She should have handled Fa'iza differently. She should have tried to explain, instead of attacking her. Maybe, just maybe she would've talked some senses into her brother to drop the marriage issue. But she knew, that was wishful thinking. Sending someone to question her was a charade. The next step will be to give her her divorce letter.

She stepped into the bath again and lay back, letting the still-warm water lap at her, soothing away her tension. At this moment, she was too tired to care what happened to her. She closed her eyes and let her mind drift.

Closing the door behind her, Aysha stepped into their room, not bothering to even acknowledge Fadeel's presence who was seated on the study table with lots of papers in his hands.

"Finally, the queen has graced us with her presence. Well, its a good thing you're here. I wanted to give you this". Fadeel said taking long strides towards her with a brown envelope in his hand.

Aysha didn't even bother to look up. She sat down by the bedside tapping furiously on her phone. "Here" Fadeel said pushing the brown envelope towards her.

"What's this?" She asked not looking up.

"Its my wedding invitation with Amirah Julde" Fadeel said smiling.

Aysha stood up quickly, shoving Fadeel away from her. "How dare you look into my eyes and tell me this Fadeel? How dare you say this?".Aysha said in a strained voice.

"Whatever do you mean Aysha" Fadeel asked, shoving his hands inside his pockets.

"You're telling me you're getting married Fadeel.

"Have i ever shoved those pills into your mouth? When i asked you to take those pills did you oppose to it? I didn't shove those pills into your mouth Aysha...you took them willingly!" Fadeel yelled angrily.

"But i did it to make you happy Fadeel. I did it for us...for you Fadeel. How could you do this to me...how could you? I took those pills on your orders". Aysha broke down completely, hugging her legs.

"Don't you dare blame me Aysha. I need kids and you can't give them to me. I have to get married again".

"Fadeel don't do this to me please. You can't do this to me". Aysha begged him.

"I am getting married Aysha. And that's final!. You can leave if you want to, but am still getting married".
